From the owner

A beautiful detached house within its own walled garden, right on the ocean front in a quiet fishing village one hour from downtown Rio de Janeiro. The villa is on 3 floors. The ground floor is set in a tranquil walled garden. The first and top floors have commanding views over the South Atlantic.The property is secluded within its own high walls and has gardens and a large swimming pool. The gardens around the pool at the rear and the front gardens are fully established. The accommodations are as follows - there are 3 separate double bedrooms and the lounge which can have proper single beds. Master bedroom - first floor, ocean view terrace, AC and ceiling fan, queen bed with great mattress. Rear bedroom - first floor, mountain view, AC, ceiling fan, double bed and large closet. Pool bedroom - Ground floor, opens onto garden terrace, double bed with great new mattress, AC, ceiling fan, en suite shower room. Lounge - 2 real single beds with good new mattresses can be set up in the ocean facing lounge, alternatively these singles can be added to the bedrooms. Larger groups may be possible - please enquire.

Your hosts, Eduardo and Philip, are a Brazilian/British married couple who live mostly in London, but for about 2 months of the year we live here. This is not a holiday house but our own home that we feel is a very special place and want to share with you.

The property is very large. We have a caretaker, Leo, who visits the house daily and takes care of the animals, plants, pool etc. He can provide support for your stay if you so choose, including driving

We have 3 dogs and a cat. They all live outside, but will come in if you let them. The dogs are a useful security support but are super friendly. The cat is very friendly as well.

The beach is simply stunning - tranquil, yet occasionally wild. The sea directly in front of the house is usually not safe for swimming but if you walk a bit further to the right there is a protected bay which is safer and has a lifeguard. Always check with the locals about the water.

For this reason we built the swimming pool, so you can relax on the beach but cool off and swim in the pool.

Please note that the pool is 1 metre deep at its shallowest and 2 m at its deepest. Please be careful, particularly with children.

The house has three kitchens so you have a choice of catering depending upon your mood and the weather. The top floor has a BBQ oven, fridge, sink and cutlery/crockery - so is great for a BBQ lunch, a dinner under the stars or just a beer in the hammocks. The main kitchen on the first floor is fully equipped and now with a brand new large fridge freezer and dishwasher- ideal for most catering. Finally we have a kitchen bar by the pool, this has a free-standing BBQ oven, fridge, sink and cutlery/crockery. The pool area is more protected than the top terrace.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Philip (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Philip (the owner) a message.

If Philip (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
