There is a variety of road transportation between the village and Downtown Rio de Janeiro. Times vary considerably depending on the time of day, the mode of transport and the traffic. In average traffic it takes about 1 hour 30 mins by bus and an hour by taxi (taxis are quite reasonable in Brazil).

Uber now operates a cheap and reliable service in the area

There is a luxury bus that goes directly from the village (the terminus) to downtown Rio and the tube - very comfortable, it takes about one and a half hours.
