The Saint James Parish region
The parish of Saint James is located in the western part of the country of Barbados. This is where the Caribbean sea is most calm as the island protects it from the Atlantic Ocean to the East.
St. James was known as the "Gold Coast", but more recently is referred to as the "Platinum Coast", reflective of the parishes many glitzy beach-front mansions, pristine beaches, and luxury hotels including the world famous 5* Sandy Lane.
Just a few kilometers North of Holetown, near Weston, this beautiful beach villa makes a perfect vacation home. It’s located on one of the most attractive West Coast beaches with lots of tropical fun at your fingertips.
Take a morning stroll along the beach, buy your lunch at the local fish market and then enjoy a rum or two at John Moores’ Rum Shack. Hire a glass bottom boat from the beach to take you on a tour of the beautiful ocean. Swim alongside the turtles and the fish. Snorkel around the coral reefs, and then dry off by sunbathing in the hot Caribbean sun.

"Definitely the place to stay."
We spent an amazing, relaxing week at this beautiful beach villa in St. James. The house is tucked away behind an electronic gate down a private drive. The beach is on your door step and the views from the veranda are breathtaking. A short walk along the beach will get you to a local fish market, grocery seller and rum shack. Alternatively, a short walk along the main road will get you to a bus stop which will take you into Holetown for the main supermarket. There are plenty of restaurants close by. To enjoy the entire island, we would recommend a car. Everything was supplied at the house including clean towels, hair dryer, coffee machine, large fridges and air conditioned bedrooms. The housekeeper Juliana and her daughter Lianna kept the house clean and tidy all the time. Their cooking was impressive and they gave us good local tips on where to visit. We had a relaxing day out on a catamaran with ‘Good Times’, swimming with turtles and snorkeling. The crew were warm and friendly. They had everything you could wish for to drink and lunch was great with plenty of choice. We would definitely visit Westshore again and recommend it.

Our stay was a pleasure from start to finish. We were greeted at the airport by the recommended taxi driver and again at the villa by Julianna and Lianna. Julianna ran us through all of the basics of the property on arrival and even had some lemonade, rum punch and a chicken salad prepared for us. The location is fantasic, quiet and secluded part of the beach which can be reached by walking down 3 steps from the patio area. A short walk along the beach will get you to a local fish market, grocery seller and rum shack. Alternatively, a short walk along the main road will get you to a bus stop which will take you into Holetown for the main supermarket. The shuttle bus from the supermarket will bring you back to the villa for free if you are prepared to wait for 20 minutes or so. We tried a mixture of restaurants - from The Cliff & Daphnes to the Roti Den and La Chefettes! The food was delicious but never more so than the home cooking of Julianna and her daughter Lianna. They prepared some outstanding meals and were always a pleasure to be around. They also helped organised an island tour, swimming with turtles and a snorkelling trip. We thoroughly enjoyed them all and felt that they were reasonably priced. I have already recommend the villa to family but unfortunately it was already booked. We will definitely be back in the near future.

We spent an amazing week at this beautiful beach villa on Westshore, St. James. The house is very spacious, comfortable and adequate for two families to share. The views were like a dream Caribbean postcard. The beach at your door step and a regenerating view of the Barbadian sunset. Although Barbados does not have private beaches, Westshore feels like a secluded place just for yourself. The housekeeper Juliana and her daughter Liana took very good care of us. Their cooking was impressive and they kept the house clean and tidy all the time. And they were useful in giving us local tips on where to visit and what entertainment to experience. They were the main reason the holiday was exceptionally good, helping us enjoy time with our kids. We wish we stayed longer. We are certainly coming back to Barbados.

This was our first time to Barbados and we were a group 3families with teenage kids. The location was just superb, right on the beachfront, beautiful clean quiet beach. House facilities also amazing with 2 lounges and 4 bedrooms. All furnished to a good standard and well maintained. Facilities were exactly as described.AC only in bedrooms but this was not a problems as the sunsets from the lounge were just to die for. We had 2 housekeepers who were generally good and kept the place nice and tidy. Laundry was done every day. Unfortunately they had a bit of an "attitude" which could have spoilt our holiday and pestered us regularly about making sure we left good comments. However we considered that they meant no harm and got on with enjoying. Some things we were not told about beforehand was that if you ask the agents to get shopping for you beforehand, they charge an extra 10%. Also taxi firms recommended by agents tended to hike up their fares (don't know if there was a cut for them somewhere) as local taxi firms were generally 40% cheaper. However overall it was a memorable holiday and, subject to what I have said, I would recommend the place.
