Possibly the best apartment in Villefranche. Very large and with a U shaped layout. Built in 1820 and traversing Rue Obscure, dating from the 13th century, entry is off Rue Poilu without any stairs to climb. There is also a basement housing washing facilities etc.
Everything in the apartment is new, with a very high standard of furniture, bedding, curtains, fabrics, flooring etc.The total area is c. 2000 sq. feet making this one of the largest apartment in the Old Town.
The location is unbeatable as it has 5 windows to the front (+ 6 at the back) and there are no stairs to climb. There are 2 balconies to the front. One is fitted with table and chairs. All ceilings are high as it was constructed from 3 old apartments made into one. The main building dates from 1720 and Rue Obscure (underneath) from 13th century.
The basement has a separate entrance for bicycles etc if required. Although the apartment is on the second floor from the port side, the entrance is on ground level from Rue Poilieu, meaning that there are no steps and that this apartment is suitable for the infirm.

Villefranche is a very historic town and used to be part of Italy. There are many places of interest such as the Citadel which is 400 years old , the church decorated by Michelle Cocteau or the Old Town itself. There are also many art galleries and frequent festivals. A market is open every Saturday and Sunday.
Villefranche Sur Mer area
Local places of interest include the Zoo in Cap Ferrat, village of Beaulieu, Old town of Nice or Monaco. There is a wonderful sea walk around Cap Ferrat from the lighthouse. Skiing is a 90 minute drive to Auron or Isola. Fishing or boat rental on the pier outside the apartment.

Further details indoors: Beyond the lower hall is the main room. Bedroom 2 and 3 each have huge sleigh beds with en suite bathrooms. The main bedroom has 2 windows overlooking the port.
The 3 bathrooms are clad in Pink Portugese Marble and the main bathroom has a high back bath at the window overlooking the port! All bathrooms have walk-in showers. Floors are Oak and the furniture is French Provencale style. The kitchen is Cream Provencale with a tiled floor.
Further details outdoors: The apartment is ideally located on the water. One can hire boats or simply wander along the waterfront . The beach is a 3 minute walk so the location is ideal for children.
A car is not necessary in Villefranche. However there is a public car park 120 yards away (€ 8 / day) and a free car park on the old Citadel (300 yds away).
Villefranche is a very picturesque village and many of the streets are very narrow. It's location between Nice and Monaco is perfect if you want to explore the coast by train or car. The station is a 4 minute walk and is only 1 stop from Nice and 12 minutes to Monaco. Beaulieu is the next village and is a 15 minute walk. The 5 windows at the front look across to Cap Ferrat.

A small supermarket, bakery, news agent etc. is 60 metres away. The main church is also in the Old Town. All the restaurants are situated within 150 metres
