The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Nestling between the foothills of the Alps and the shore, Nice has a microclimate of its own with more than c. 300 days of sunshine a year. At its best it's quite possible to swim in the sea and ski on the same day!
Apart from visiting the coastal neighbours of Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, Menton and even the towns of the Italian Riviera (San Remo), visiting the hinterland and the perched villages of Vence, St. Paul - even St.Agnes( the last town on the Maginot Line with one of Frances three preserved Mediaeval gardens) is rewarding.
Villefranche Sur Mer
Phoenicians, Greeks and Barbary Pirates have fought here. Artists, writers, politicians and Queens have relaxed here.
Nice is steeped in history, and there are many books, guides and tours on the subject.
There's a tangible Corsican and Italian influence due to the fact that Nice was part of Liguire and only rejoined France in 1860.
It is the fifth largest City in France, and the second most popular destination with more than 4.5m visitors each year, drawn by the climate, sea, and attractions. The airport is the second busiest in France and there are excellent links by train, bus and helicopter. It also has the largest number of museums and galleries after Paris, the most popular of which are the Matisse, MAMAC, and Chagall. Opera and ballet performances in the Belle Epoque operahouse are sold out.
Each February, as if to herald the spring there is the annual Carnival with its colourful parades to rival the Mardi Gras and Rio carnival!

"Fantastic apartment, fantastic view"
What a fabulous apartment, we stayed for 8 nights, would have loved to stay longer. Perfect position for exploring Villefrance, Nice and the Cote D'azur. The bakery and supermarket are close by as well as the train station. Loved sitting on the balcony every morning with our baguettes and coffee. Pat was lovely and very helpful, it was lovely to arrive to wine, cheese and bread after travelling from Australia. We would definately look at staying there again in the future.

We stayed at this great apartment for 3 nights with 3 teenagers. Wish we could have stayed longer. The apartment is perfectly located, few steps from the beach and from the old town. Great location for daytrips , everything is close by. Amazing wine store with great cheese just beside the apartment building, walked to get fresh baguettes croissants bread every morning from the bakery close by in old town.
Just an amazing view, cannot have any better view from anywhere in town. Having breakfast and drinks on the balcony was just breathtaking.
Pat is extremely nice and helpful. We had cold rose and French baguette and brie waiting for us when we got there.
The apartment is very comfortable and with modern furnishing, has everything you need. Very comfortable bed and pillows. It is exactly as it is on the pictures but a little better in real life.
Highly recommend staying here. Also there is parking in front of the apartment building making packing very easy from the car. Also rail is close if you do not have a car.

"Heaven on earth"
Villefranche is one the most beautiful places to stay in the south of France, perfectly situated to travel around and stunningly beautiful to stay and relax. We have stayed at Flot Bleus twice now and is it perfect. At sunrise you can sit and watch the fisherman waiting for the sun to peek over the mountains, during the day you can pop to the beech in seconds and into the old town for lunch equally quick. You are minutes from the train station so you can travel around with great ease. At night everything is peaceful even though you are just minutes from some gastronomic delights, we tend to eat in the local French restaurants as the food is great and inexpensive. As for the accommodation at Flot Bleus it is perfect, it has everything you could need and is like home from home it is so comfortable. In fact it is so good we have booked for this year already. Flot Bleus and Villefranche are fantastic, what adds to this are Pat and George who look after the apartment, they do everything possible to make our stay as good as it can be from our taxi bookings to our shopping for arrival, the rose wine is chilling in the fridge on arrival, thanks guys.
