This property is suitable for those seeking to enjoy all that Tropea offers - fine beaches, historic old town and many artistic and musical events.

There is a shared garden with sunbeds and great sea view and area with tables for al fresco meals, and the owners, who live next door, will make you more than welcome. We can also provide good local advice, and local contacts for those considering buying property.The proprietor owns an estate agency so if you want to buy a properties in Tropea he will help you.If you wish to appoint a taxi from Lamezia Terme airport to Tropea the cost is 100€

The property is a large panoramic villa of 270mq that has been divided into two properties. The owners live in one half of the property and the remainder of the property that is 130mq is for guests. There are excellent views to the front of the property across to Stromboli and the Eolie islands.There are 1000mq of panoramic garden,bbq,"wood-burning brick oven pizza"The house is in a quiet area of Tropea and very near the centre just 10 minutes walking.
There is seating and dining facilities for eight people, a downstairs WC and Utility Room, a double dathroom,a double bedroom and a twin bedroom and the Lounge hasa sofa bed in the living room.Air-condition.

The Southern Italy / Calabria region

Calabria is a mountainous region that has been slow to embrace Euopean tourism, and is therefore comparatively unspoilt in comparison to other european countries. The climate on the western coast is nearer to African than Mediteranean, and the beaches are in use from April until the end of October, with many sunny and warm days throughout the winter.

The Tropea area

Tropea has a wealth of history and a long and interesting artistic and musical tradition. The old town is of particular interest, with many attractive bars and restaurants.

Boat trips to the islands are popular, with "Stromboli by night" being a particular favourite.Everyday a boat from the harbour will take you to the island.

Nearest airport is Lamezia Terme (45 km). There is a regular train service to within a few hundred yards of the property or there is Car Hire at the airport or there are taxi's. Ryanair fly from Europe and from Northern Italy and Alitalia fly from Heathrow, Rome and Milan, Berlin Air from Germany.
Once you get to Lamezia airport we can offer a pick up service at a cost of 100 euros.

“Tropea - a jewel in a crown” Tropea - a jewel in a crown We have just returned from a late October break in Tropea with a family of 5, and have felt compelled to write this review because we had such an amazing time. Having never ventured this far south of Italy, not sure what to expect but it beat our expectations in so many ways - the apartment, the host, the weather, the scenery, the town, the people, even Ryanair! The apartment is set on the hillside overlooking Tropea so has good views of the sea and the rooftops of the town - you can see Stromboli volcano out to sea from the garden. The apartment slept our 5 very easily, and could sleep more using different configurations. It was clean, bathrooms modern, and the kitchen provided all the required equipment (although I must confess we ate out every night but one). The hot water was very hot and the cold water was cold, all bed linen & towels were provided - what more could you want? The secure wi-fi (the owner provides the security code upon arrival) proved very helpful for the teenager daughter to keep in touch with friends. Ok - the fact that you have the great views from the hillside means you are reasonably high up which means walking the 10 minutes into Tropea involves quite a steep walk back so you soon get used to behaving like the locals and driving it! The apartment sits high up above a main road (so it's there but you cant't see it, and noise very minimal during the day and virtually non-existent in the late evening/night), which makes getting anyway very convenient. More of a positive than a negative in my opinion. Cristian, the host, was very kind and a great source of local information - where to eat (there were so many restaurants open still), when and where the local markets were etc etc. And living next door aways meant he was available if we needed him (which we never did, but it was reassuring). We were very surprised about the weather - it was hot enough to be on the beach every day and to be swimming in the sea. Evenings got cool quite quickly so you needed a warm pully. Tropea is a lovely place - the scenery dramatic with the cliffs, friendly locals and hardly any English menus!!! Made us feel like real tourists! All in all, definitely recommend Tropea, and this apartment, and we will be back very soon for a totally relaxing holiday.
