The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

Torrevieja has a temperate climate.It is usually at least 10 degrees higher than the UK even in Winter.
There are beautiful salt lakes nearby graced with elegant flamingoes!The town boasts a large marina,sports centre, arts centre and theatre.There is a wonderful market along the promenade selling leather goods and jewellery. There is also a weekly Friday market near the bus station. This is one of the biggest and most famous in Spain and you can buy everything here: curtains, cutlery, clothes,shoes, watches,food etc
There is also a lovely little funfair for children which opens in the evening.
The bus station is just 5 minutes walk away. From here you can travel to many interesting towns near Alicante including Benidorm, Orihuela and Cartagena(Carthage) which has Roman ruins.
There are many fabulous restaurants especially near the marina and some nightclubs for those of you who like to party!!.

The Torrevieja Town / Parque de las Avenidas area

Aqualand is open from May to August and is a 20 minute walk. There is a beautiful theatre in Torrevieja town. There are spectacular festivals all year round with bands and road processions.
The lovely paramount theme park of Terra Mitica is great for all the family and just 90 minutes drive away or tour buses leave from the tourist office in town.
There is a marvellous shopping centre Habaneras just 15 minutes walk away. Here you can find many cosmopolitan shops and restaurants such as Zara. There is also a 6 screen cinema and a bowling alley open all year round.
The nearby town of Cartegena(1 hour by bus) hosts the most amazing Roman festival in November where the men dress as centurions, flaming torches light the streets and plays are performed in the amphitheatre.
On January 5th (The eve of epiphany) the three wise men parade through the streets of Torrevieja on camels or horses throwing sweets to the children.
There is a beautiful national park near thesalt lakes where you can go cycling.
