Pear Cottage is an almost 100 year old authentic village house in Western Hungary completly modernised in 2005. It lies in the western foot of the Bakony Hills in the village Ganna, 15 minutes from Pápa town. The location enables one to experience the countriside North from Lake Balaton, taste wine in the near Somló Hill wine region, go to the biggest adventure park in Hungary, hike and bike in the Bakony Forest and surroundings, visit a traditional "bluepaint" textile manufactury museum, visit the nearby barokk Palace of the Eszterházy Noble family and many more.

Of the cottage we have preserved the traditional buiding structure and materials of the house, which were possible. This way the living room and kitchen area has its original wooden ceiling. The covered long veranda served as a kind of open air part of the house once and today, a kind of corridor between the many functional places where the daily work was done. The original house today has 2 bedrooms and a livingroom, separate wc and bathroom ( shower) , a fully equiped kitchen, a dining room that opens to the covered terrace, where there is a grill fireplace. Groups can comfortably dine and relax here as well. In the back of the longish guesthouse is a newly built apartment for 2-4.

There is a 2000 m2 garden around the house with fruit trees, an openair fireplace in the back of the garden, a temporary pool in the summer. We provide breakfast and dinner upon need.

The Transdanubia/Pannonia region

The Region lies North to the Lake Balaton, roughly 1 hour from Hegyeshalom the biggest boarder exit towards Vienna. The region is a pretty hilly, countryside area with village and agricultural, foresty landscape with winding up and down roads. The Bakony Hills and Forest is a peaceful area where hunting is regulated, so often dears can be seen on the side of the road. Also 1 of the 22 wine regions is here, called " Nagy - Somló borvidék". In Pápa Town a new well equiped thermal spa and wellness bath has been opened recently. The biggest adventure - climbing park and a renewed Zoo in Veszprém City has been opened too. Horse riding is a popular activity in the region, but biking, hiking, different sport and cultural activity is also commonly enjoyed. Some villages have preserved their original traditional village house look, with wooden ceilings, hand laid brick chimneys, pretty verandas of the white washed peasant houses.
