Get the driver that Roy and Lise recommend then you can see the sights and not have to drive on the wrong side of the road. The house might seem too close to the owners but, they have a big Fiji dog with a big bark, so you are really safe. Go fishing and snorkleing with Roy and Lisa. The fishing is great and a good way to see the island.Go to the Fiji villaqe and visit the waterfall. Take the driver to Savusavu and go on Hunter pearls tour. The beach down the hill is black sand and the river is 10 mins to the right a good thing to do is walk the beach and relax. Go to the market in Savusavu and meet Olivia. Try Kava. |
Guestbook for Sekawa Beach Cottages
Dear Roy & Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your slice of Paradise with us! Our two weeks here was brilliant...... the walks on the beach, the lazy afternoons on the porch, the cooking in this super kitchen and the peaceful evenings will never be forgotten. The cottage is a perfect retreat from reality, and Kirk and I leave here so rested and content.....
We can see why your cottage is so solidly booked up....perfect hosts.....and perfect accommodation. Kirk and I wish you all the very best and look forward to returning to Sekawa Cottages again. As we say in South Africa, "Mooi Loop" my friends, until we meet again. Kirk and Saskia, September 2011
Dear Roy & Lisa,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
How can we express our enjoyment for such a wonderful time? The house is so clean, the yard so green and flowering. Sherry and I loved the river fishing and clues to catch Papio and bait. The boat fishing was such a success, 5 Walu, 1 Kava, and a Scad, 60 lbs in 6 hours with a great snorkel trip in the middle of it all. The taxi and trips to town made Sherry's day, and of course the Pearls. This is a wonderful base to start and finish adventures, the washer and dryer were so needed, all the comforts of home. All of the above is nothing compared to the friendship you have showed us. Truly the people you meet are what make lifes journey wonderful.

The real Fiji! A charming and nicely planned house that feels like home, with a large terrace that had stunning views, the perfect place for morning yoga or lazy days with a book. After our five months of traveling we were happy to have a month’s rest in the quiet and beautiful Sekawa. We had plenty of time for studying, reading, writing, cooking and kayaking. We really enjoyed to paddle out into the bay to snorkel and swim. Twice a week we went to the small town of Savusavu, just over 15 minutes drive away from the house. There we bought cheap seafood and local vegetables at the market and had lunch at the port tavern. This is the perfect place to experience the real Fiji, instead of staying in resorts,. Lisa and Roy were very nice landlords and neighbors and also very helpful. If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to really unwind, or to work or study undisturbed, this is the perfect spot
Stayed from Monday 14/02/2011 to Monday 07/03/2011.

I have visited the cozy cottage at Sekawa Beach,Fiji several times over the last few years and always find it a giant relief upon arrival to find some true peace and relaxation in the beautiful surroundings of the Nasekawa area outside Savusavu. Countless species of tropical birds are a constant entertainment sitting on the deck of this super-clean and well appointed cottage. A short walk to the beach always brings pleasure with a mellow warm swim and possibly a spin in the kayak to some world class snorkeling. With many options for fishing the local waters, my time spent at Sekawa is always full and extremely rewarding. I cannot think of a finer place to revisit again and again!
Comment from Ben & Joy of Cornwall UK:
After booking Sekawa Beach Cottage so long in advance and with such high
expectations, would we be disappointed? The answer was immediate and definite. No!
The accommodation is extremely comfortable with every modern convenience to make one's stay very pleasant. The fans made us feel cool even on the hottest of days. The cottage is very spacious and there is ample room for four people to sleep. Full mesh screening meant no insects indoors. A full kitchen meant that we could prepare the exotic foods bought at the market in Savusavu. There are dining tables both inside and outside on the verandah. Views from both locations are superb. A real bonus was the washer and dryer. All in all this is a very easy house in which to live.
The cottage is situated in lush green vegetation. The flora and fauna are fascinating and plentiful. It is an easy alk to the beach. The sunsets are all beautiful but different each day.
Savusavu may be reached by taxi or local bus. We only used the bus which was fun, exciting and crowded. The local people are very very friendly and only too keen to help when necessary. The town is small but has all that one wishes to stock up the larder and everyday goods are available.
Lisa and Roy are perfect hosts. They are always available to assist if needed but leave the guests alone to enjoy the area in privacy if desired. Both Lisa and Roy are a mine of information about the local area. A visit to the nearby village can easily be arranged.
Vatu, Lisa and Roy's dog deserves a mention. He is friendly and loves to eat.
He eats just about anything!
We liked it all so much we have booked another month later this year and four
months in 2011-12.

Dear Roy & Lisa,
4 weeks are over now and we are asking ourselves where all the days have gone. You made our stay in Sekawa something we'll never forget. The house is great, just sitting on the deck, having breakfast and listening to the Barking Doves, Red Parrots and Orange Doves is so relaxing, we will miss this very much. And in you, Lisa and Roy, we've met some of the most warm-hearted, helpful, open-minded simply loveliest people we've ever been with. It's not just the idyllic nature that surrounded us here, but also the most welcoming atmosphere of your hospitality that made our stay here such a great experience.
Frank, Ada & Tonka Berlin, Germany September 2007
"We've enjoyed our stay in every single way. The views never fail to amaze, the village visit was a complete success, the fishing-7 Spanishi Mackerel! A heartfelt thanks Roy & Lisa, you made us welcome from day one. We"ve both had so much fun!"
Jonathan & Claire, Cambridge, UK June 2007
"Thank you so much for your kindness, good conversation & generosity during our stay at your lovely, clean & peaceful cottage. We had a wonderful time just enjoying being here. In fact, our stay here has been the best time of our month in Fiji!"

"Paradise Found!"
"The cottage is lovely, spacious and well appointed and maintained with lush, colourful grounds and excellent bird watching from the veranda. Appreciated the kitchen, laundry, and entertainment facilities, and especially the owner's, Roy and Lisa's, fabulous hospitality and kindness. We enjoyed the beach, river trip, and children's meke, too. Much more than simply renting a vacation cottage! This has been much more like visiting long time friends for a great new adventure. Highly recommend the Fishing Charter for bombastic hook-ups and great take-downs in true tropical fishing style! This has been a must return soon experience, never to forget. MASSIVE RESPECT to Roy and Lisa! Susun and Monty" Trinidad, California USA May 2008
"Awesome Retreat!"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beach cottage. It was very spacious and well equipped with all the niceties of home (including laundry facilities, entertainment centre, lots of books to read, good plentiful water...) The surroundings are truly paradisaic. From the veranda you have both an ocean view as well as a rain forest view -- a nice place to have coffee, bird watch, read...The ocean and a nearby river is a short walk and there is a kayak at your disposal. We didn't rent a car while we were there, but had plenty of things to do to keep us busy. Taxi fares are quite reasonable from the cottage to town. Perhaps the best part of our stay at this cottage was getting to know the owners, Roy & Lisa. They were so kind & hospitable. A few days with them and you'll feel as though you were family or life long friends instead of new acquaintances. They are very knowledgeable about their surroundings, from the Fijian culture to the plant & animal life there & are very willing to share it with you if you like. It's also noteworthy that they have a charter business as well. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the fishing and snorkel tour they took us on. They know all the right places to take you for beautiful snorkeling and hot fishing spots. We ate fresh fish for dinner and even tried some kava in true Fijian style. I was even able to do some souvenir shopping as Lisa makes jewellery too. On a scale of 1 to 10, we give this place a 10 and hope to be able to return soon!"
