About the home
A new detached family villa sleeps 8 comfortably, with a private swimming pool (6x4m long and between 1m and 1.75m deep) with steps leading into the pool for easy access, patio and landscaped gardens. It is built to the highest standards,with the spacious kitchen being fully equipped with modern appliances and there are both indoor and outside dining areas seating 8.
There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (3 of which are en-suite), with 2 double bedrooms (one with balcony) and 1 twin ( with balcony) on the first floor and 1 twin bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. The living room seats eight comfortably and has patio doors opening on to the garden area and is equipped with flat screen T.V, DVD and satellite (giving access to most free-view channels). There is also a quiet seating area on the landing upstairs with further seating for two people. There is a utility room housing the washing machine and double garage with remote control access for secure parking, and plenty of parking outside.
There is also a games room area that has a table tennis table and a dartboard. This along with the abundance of garden and pool toys makes it a perfect place for the children to play and the adults to relax.
The house is a 10-15 minute walk from the large family friendly sandy beach and cafes, restaurants, bars and a daily market, or 5 minute drive with plenty of beach front parking
It is also 10 Km (15 minutue) from Foz do Arelho with excellent sandy beaches, a large salt water lagoon and more cafes and restaurants. Nazare is also only 8 Km (10 minutes) away, another excellent holiday resort, 25 km away is the medieval hill top walled town of Obidos with lots of small shops and restaurants in its quaint pedestrian streets. A 35 Km drive will take you to the world class golf course of Praia D'el Rey.
The garden provides plenty of space for family fun and you will find plenty of garden and pool toys to aid the fun.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region
Silver coast (Costa de Prata) has stunningly beautiful stretches of beach with not only the 3km of sandy beach at São Martinho do Porto but the beautiful beaches of Nazaré and Foz do Arelho nearby. The area is perfect to sight see Portugal’s heritage in the many picturesque towns steeped in history, a few listed below.
Towards the south:
The medieval borough Óbidos (20 km), is a medieval walled town which enjoys a magnificent present-day state of repair as a result of its status as the traditional gift from Portuguese kings to their wives. Within the walls are fascinating alleys which have become home to high-class handicraft and gift shops as well as bars and restaurants of repute.
The fisherman city Peniche (50 km) and the Berlengas Islands.Peniche is Portugal’s largest fishing port and the industry dominates the town. It is great to take a walk along the sea wall before making a visit to one of the many harbour-side restaurants for fresh fish cooked on a barbecue at the roadside.
The Gothic city Santarém and the museum house of Alpiarça, the palace, the church and the convent of Mafra.
The 2 palaces of Sintra, the capital city Lisbon (100 km).Sintra is surrounded by greenery and is rich in different species of vegetation.Nowadays it is a favourite spot for visitors who like to discover it on foot or in one of the horse-drawn carriages for hire in the main square of the town. The 15th century palace in the village is well worth seeing for the painted ceilings and the Moorish patio. The simplicity of the Capuchos convent in the Sintra hills is well worth the drive out.
Towards the north:
The church and the convent of Alcobaça (20km) from the 12th century, the basilica and the convent of Batalha from the 14th century.
The place of pilgrimage Fátima (50 km), the castles of Leiria and Porto do Mos.Fatima welcomes millions of devotees a year who come to pray at the site of a miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary here in 1917
The university city Coïmbra (100 km), the convent of the tempeliers in Tomar, etc..Coimbra stands on the banks of the River Mondego. It is the traditional cultural centre of the country with one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe

Foz do Arelho beach (surfing and sailing) - 15 mins drive.
Caldas Da Rainha (shopping/spa) - 15 mins drive.
Praia D'El Rey - (famous golf course) - 25 mins drive. Rated as the 13th best course in Continental Europe by Golf World magazine.
Alcabaca Cathedral City - 20 mins drive.
The Sao Martinho do Porto area
São Martinho do Porto is located 100km north of Lisbon, 3km form Highway 8 and 13km South of Nazaré. The village belongs to the municipality of Alcobaça and has 5000 habitants. There’s a primary school and a college.
The beach front has just been the subject of major investment making it pedestrian safe and wooden walkways allow access to the nearby protected sand-dunes, and enable an uninterupted walk from one side of the bay to the other. The seafront is lined with cafes, restaurants, ice-cream parlours and shops. Cabins can be hired to protect from the midday sun.
There is a daily market (except Mondays). Located half way between the villa and the beach front.
In summer there is usually a wind that comes form the sea and refreshes the weather avoiding temperatures above 30º. At night the temperatures drops significantly allowing everyone to sleep well.

Lisbon airport is recommended as it is an easy drive along the A8 taking between 50 mins to one hour depending on traffic. We suggest you try Easy Jet but also try BMI Baby, Thompson Fly, British Airways or TAP Portugal for flights.
Porto (Oporto) airport is serviced by Ryan Air and Easy Jet and is approximately two hours drive from the property and Faro airport is about three hours away.
A varierty of car rental companies operate from Lisbon airport - try Europcar if flying with Easyjet as they offer discounts.

We returned to the villa for our 5th visit and left as satisfied as the first time we visited. We continued to enjoy swimming in the pool and the fabulous bay but also still found new restaurants to eat in and new places to visit. There are so many interesting historical sites in the vicinity that you can never be bored. The villa still has everything you could wish for to be comfortable and to occupy a young family. We will definitely be back for a 6th visit! |

We were a large group with a range of ages from 19 to 77 but everyone had a lovely relaxing break. The villa was very well equiped and spotlessly clean and had everything you would need and more. The local town had everyrhing you needed including a local daily market where we found very cheap and good produce worth the visit. The beech was within walking distance and very clean and safe. We ate out most days finding some great resturants our favorites being the local Tapas Bar and Portabello's an Italian where the Manager even gave my parents a lift home when we could not get a taxi. I would certainly recomend this villa and holiday location to anyone as there is something for everyone. |

This villa was an absolute delight to stay in. It has everything you could wish for and more especially when travelling with a large family. I really liked the location and could walk to everything I needed, the beach, local shops etc. I decided not to hire a car on this trip and was happy to use the buses for several outings. The beaches were amazing, and it really was an area of outstanding natural beauty. The dunes are a must to visit and the café next to them serves great local wine at 50c a glass! |
