Home description
The apartment has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds and a large lounge with a double sofa bed, therefore, accommodating up to six people. A travel cot and a high chair can also be provided.
The building is an excellent development with solid wood floors to the bedrooms and quality floor tiles in all other rooms.
The Silver Coast area of Portugal, named after its many wonderful sandy beaches, is a relatively undeveloped area retaining much of its traditional Portuguese charm. The main resort towns can become busy in August but otherwise there is normaly plenty of space and always plenty to do.
São Martinho do Porto is a small but lovely coastal resort town with a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. There are a number of cliff top walks from the apartment and the new town, the old town and the local market are all easily reachable on foot, although the wonderful views from the balconies and roof terrace my keep you mesmerised all day! There are great beaches for surfing at Nazare, 10mins by car, and Peniche, 15 mins by car.
For those interested in local history there are two interesting and attractive places to visit nearby. Obidos a small town still retaining its medieval walls and Alcobaca the site of the largest monestry in Portugal. Slightly further afield is the famous religious and pilgramige town of Fatima, Roman ruins at Conimbiga, Castles at Almoural, Mavao,Tomar and Sintra and palaces at Jerinomos, Mafra and Sintra and the monestry of Batalha.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
Located less than 100km north of Lisbon on Portugal’s Atlantic coast lies Sao Martinho Do Porto in the heart of the Silver Coast (Costa Prata). Easily accessed from the A8 leading directly from Lisbon within an hour from the airport. The mild temperatures and white sandy beaches offer the choice between practising water sports: windsurfing and surfboarding being very popular in the area with major centres in Peniche, Baleal and Foz de Arelho; or the calm life of the seaside. The monasteries, convents, castles, churches, and museums provide a variety of interesting days out, Costa de Prata is also home to famous traditional art treasures, such as its porcelain and crystal, as well as its gastronomy, strongly influenced by the sea and counterbalanced by its tasty Bairrada wines and mouth-watering sweets. The mild climate provides a lengthy holiday season with average temeratures in the 20s between May and October.
Unlike its more famous and populous cousin in the south - the Algarve . . . here you can discover pretty villages and a real Portuguese way-of-life amongst stunning coastal scenery fringed with some of the best beaches in Europe. If you are looking for a warm and relaxing place, where the people are genuinely friendly, the wine is superb and the weather is almost perfect - then there are few choices better than the Silver Coast of Portugal.
Because much of this area of Portugal remains undiscovered by the mass tourism market you can guarantee a beach to yourself even in the height of the season if you are prepared to drive and walk a little way. More robust than the Algarve coast and open to the Atlantic Ocean - the seas here are more vigorous, and offer some unrivalled surfing conditions. This area has some of the most spectacular scenery in Portugal. Just inland there are sea-water lagoons, small villages in the hills, castles, forests, the beautiful pine forest Pinhal do Rei, the Berlengas Islands where there is good sea fishing and the Berlenga Grande - a National Bird Reserve and a wide choice of interesting and historical locations
Sao Martinho do Porto area
Sao Marthinho do Porto has a wonderful, sheltered, sweeping bay with safe bathing waters. There is the usual array of waterside bars, restaurants and local shops. There is a railway station with a service from Lisbon and buses to local towns and Lisbon also stop near the railway station. The town is small, but has all necessary supplies and a daily market is not far from the apartment. The apartment is approximately 200m from the nearest sea and 500m to the town centre. There are cliff top walks from outside the apartment and easy access by car or bus to the nearby resorts of Nazare and Peniche. There is a Tourist information office in the town. The major Golf course of Pria del Rey is only 20mins from the apartment and there are many other course near by.
How to get there
São Martinho do Porto, 100kms north of Lisbon, north of Peniche and South of Nazare is easily accessible from Lisbon airport via the A8 road. 40 airlines serve Lisbon including British Airways, TAP, Lufthansa, EasyJet, BMIbaby, Alitalia, KLM, Lufthansa etc. There is also a limited train service from Lisbon and the nearest station is about 0.75km from the apartment. There are Coaches that run from Lisbon to São Martinho do Porto or for later arrivals a coach to Caldas de Rainha and a taxi from there.

The owner's weekend rates apply to: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
NB: Prices may be subject to change at the owner's discretion.
For stays less than 1 week a charge of £50 per stay will be added to the total of the daily charge quoted. Where 5 or 6 people stay or the Sofa bed is required an additional charge of £15/week or part thereof is made.
Rates include bed linen, towels for use in the apartment (beach towels are not provided) and cleaning upon departure. A meet and great service is provided.
An optional welcome pack can be arranged for an additional cost and paid for locally on arrival.
A cot and or high chair can be provided at an additional cost of £10 each per week.
A refundable damage deposit of £50 is payable when the final balance is due.
