Within 30 mins drive you'll find beautiful ancient hilltop villages, cosmopolitan art galleries, stunning mountain scenery and hiking trails, beaches, paragliding, theme parks, restaurants for all tastes & budgets, designer shopping, secluded coves, wildlife reserves, watersports, scenic drives, horse riding, golf, worldclass climbing, and even skiing in the winter months.
The nearest beaches, in Villeneuve-Loubet & Cagnes sur Mer, are 15-20 mins drive. These are pebbly beaches, with pontoons moored 50 m off shore from which to dive off and all sorts of watersports available. The nearest sandy beaches are in Antibes & Cannes, about 30 mins drive. Slightly further at 45 mins drive you'll find dramatic cliffs and excellent snorkelling at Théoule sur Mer
This part of France, the Côte d'Azur, is famous for its gorgeous light which has attracted many artists over the years making the area rich in cultural heritage. We also benefit from 300 days a year of sunshine which means out of season holidays are lovely.
Nice, the region's capital, is rich in history and stunningly beautiful set on a bay of azure blue sea. Having been part of Italy until only 150 years ago you'll find the architecture italianate in style and plenty of Italian influences in the local cuisine.
If shopping's your thing you'll delight in the choice of local provencal markets finding at least one happening every day of the week. Cannes is famous for its glamour and you won't be disappointed with the array of designer boutiques along the famous Croisette seafront.
Our proximity to the mountains as well as the coast offers a varied holiday destination and on a mild spring day it's possible to ski in the morning and spend the afternoon on the beach! You can't get better than that.
The Roquefort-les-Pins area
Roquefort les Pins has everything for your daily needs including a supermarket, 2 bakeries, foreign newspapers, banks, post office, pharmacies, a florist, a deli, a butcher & fishmonger, weekly market, cinema (outdoor in July/Aug) and 6 restaurants/bars. For gourmets, just 5 mins from Lou Messugo is a delicious 1 star Michelin restaurant and within 20 mins there are another 3.
There are 2 golf courses 10 mins from the apartment and within 2O mins there are a further 6 world-class courses. The region hosts numerous festivals including the Carnaval of Nice and Menton Lemon Festival in February, Les Nuits du Sud (world) music festival in June, Jazz à Juan & Nice Jazz Festival in July and plenty more local smaller fêtes.
Children are excellently catered for in the local area. 10 mins away there is a fantastic complex of activity parks including a labyrinthe, a park where you can climb along rope walks high in the trees, slide on summer luges, roll in giant wheels and bounce in all forms of inflatables and a "Go Ape" accrobranche activity centre. Slightly further afield is Marineland, the biggest marine theme park in Europe. And of course there are all the nearby beaches which children enjoy at any time of year.

“Makes the south of France easy”
It is my second stay at Lou Messugo. I stayed first by myself and then I met my partner there at the end of a work trip for him. Lou Messugo is tucked away in the hills outside Nice, but easily accessible to the coast. Phoebe's hospitality makes everything easy. The gite is clean and comfortable, and there is plenty of up to date information on what to do on the Cote d'Azure.
Response: It is so rewarding to host returning guests and it was lovely to have you back again. Thanks for taking the time to review Lou Messugo, it is most appreciated.
This was my 3rd time to stay at Lou Messugo and it was as great as ever. The welcome from the hosts is so warm and genuine. They obviously love what they do and I feel at home each time I come to this wonderful place. They have thought of everything which makes coming here so easy. I will continue to come back over and over again.
Response: Always a pleasure! Lovely to have you back, we can't ask for a better recommendation than that. Thanks for such a lovely review!!

“Live like the locals at beautiful Lou Messugo!”
Our stay at Lou Messugo was amazing. My wife and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon and it was incredible.
The hospitality started even before we showed up with host Phoebe letting us know the best way to arrive, which airport to fly into, she just about answered every question South of France newbies had.
Upon our arrival the apartment was spotless and cozy. We had a thoughtful handwritten note from Phoebe along with a dozen roses, local goat cheese, champagne, local olives, and a baguette. Made us feel right at home after our long flight from the states.
The apartment was so comfy and the perfect hideaway to come home to after our touring around the cote d'azur. Phoebe was always available to ask for help or dining suggestions - she really helped us feel like we were locals!
Our host also went above and beyond when our US electrical adapter wasn't working she gathered together a bag of adapters for us to try- this gave power to our camera. We wouldnt have had any juice to capture our amazing trip- but Phoebe came through.
The apartment is so quiet you'd never guess a family is living upstairs.
The pool looked amazing but the weather was a little too chilly when we were there so we didn't try it out - but thats for next time I guess.
Don't stay in the big towns when you travel to the South of France- stay at Lou Messugo and let Phoebe show you how to live like the locals!
Response: Wow! I'm a little overwhelmed at your wonderful review. Thank you so so much for taking the time to share your experiences with others. A honeymoon is such a unique time that it's important to get it right and I'm so glad we did with you. We really do try to go the extra mile for our guests and I'm delighted you loved it here as much as we do! Please come back again one day.

“Gorgeous Rental Close to Nice”
Lou Messugo is clean and beautifully decorated. Phoebe is extremely personable and helpful and she made our stay very comfortable! I would definitely recommend the vacation rental. The only thing I'd do differently is rent a car as the bus transportation to Nice and the surrounding coastal towns is sporadic and doesn't run very late.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property, it is very much appreciated. It was lovely to meet you and hope to see you again one day.

“A lovely quiet place in a very convenient location”
We really enjoyed our stay in Lou Messugo! Phoebe and her family are very welcoming and made sure we had a great time. The apartment is modern and very quiet. Its location is perfect for trips in any direction and there is many things to do and explore in the area! We can highly recommend it!
Response: Thanks for your kind words. We aim to please and we're really happy you enjoyed your time at Lou Messugo.
It's been a while since I stayed with my wife and her parents, but we found Lou Messugo to be very relaxing. Phoebe and her family were great and made us feel at home. We were looking for a central location so we could drive to all of the places we wanted to go. We visited Monaco, Nice and many other places "nearby." If you are wanting to walk out the door and have things to do, you should probably look elsewhere, but we had planned on touring the area by car, so it was perfect for us and definitely a great place to come home to in the evening. FYI, the GPS put us close, but we had a little trouble finding it from there since it was dark, so make sure you get a map printed out for backup.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to write about your time at Lou Messugo, we really appreciate it. It was great to meet you all. We're sorry that you had difficulties finding us, it's true we're not on any GPS system because the road is too new. We always send detailed directions to all guests because of this but it seems we must have inadvertantly forgotten to do this for you. It's never happened before and it won't happen again so once again, sorry!

“Cote d'Azur luxury without the hustle and bustle”
We stayed at Lou Messugo with our 2 small children - and enjoyed every moment. The location is really fantastic - choice of beaches in the morning, small arty mountain village market in the afternoon or lounging by the pool if you can't be bothered. What really helped make the stay were the friendly and knowledgeable owners. Very highly recommended.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to review Lou Messugo. We really enjoying hosting you and are happy to hear that your holiday was such a success. How about a return visit one day?

“Fabulous Honeymoon destination”
We cannot recommend this place highly enough! We spent 4 days at Lou Messugo as part of out honeymoon in South of France. Phoebe was a wonderful host, on hand if you needed her, but giving you all the privacy you would want. The apartment is finished to a very high standard, with a lovely style to it and the bed - as everyone has said- is sooo comfortable! The apartment is perfectly situated and although the roads are narrow you can visit many beautiful sights without every having to deal with real traffic - together with the spectacular views it made driving abroad a pleasure. For the length of our stay there were sufficient restaurants in walking distance of the apartment for our evening meals... but plenty more if you were happy to drive. We did a fabulous horse trek at a Western style stables locally - Phoebe booked it for us and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip.
Response: It is such a privilege to host honeymooners and we try our absolute best to ensure this special time is perfect for you. I'm delighted to hear that we succeeded! It was a pleasure to host you at Lou Messugo and we wish you all the best in your married life. Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
Convenient location for access to the larger towns or hilltop villages. Comfortable well equipped apartment. Helpful owner and respectful of your privacy. South facing terrace a delight to enjoy a sunny breakfast and afternoon rest after all the sightseeing! Only comment would be - more comfortable sun loungers wouldn't go amiss then we would never have moved!
Response: Thank you for taking the time to review Lou Messugo and for your kind words. Thank you also for pointing out that our sun loungers are past their prime and it's time to retire them. They have had a good innings, as they were a wedding present to my parents 45 years ago in Ghana and have travelled the world. Do come back again to try out the new ones we'll provide for summer 2013 but be warned that by your own words, you won't leave the terrace then!

“A beautiful setting amid the pine trees”
Helen and I had a wonderful week at Lou Messugo at the end of August 2011. The setting is beautiful amid the pine trees and the apartment is superbly equipped and furnished. The pool is lovely and it's an extremely comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. Both the mountains, with quaint, beautiful villages, some perched precariously on hill tops and the magnificent scenery and the chic towns along the coast and great beaches are all easily accessible; the centre of Roquefort les Pins is a short walk away. This is one of our favourite spots in a beautiful part of France and Pheobe is an excellent host. Highly recommended.
Response: Thank you very much for your lovely review. We very much enjoyed having you here and hope you come again one day.

“Excellent location and a lovely, comfortable base”
We had a wonderful holiday at Lou Messugo. It seemed like it was 20 minutes from everywhere! Lovely beaches, rivers, beautiful towns and villages. The apartment itself has a really nice feel - comfortable, everything you need and more. Phoebe and her family are really welcoming.
Response: Thank you for your kind words. It's true, Lou Messugo is, dare I say it, "perfectly" located to visit this gorgeous part of the world. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here, we enjoyed having you.

“you will love it here”
a lovely gite set just beneath the fir trees - run by a very warm hostess with more than the mostest. Tips for what to round the area -always plenty happening for those who like action, and then there's the total peace for those who just want to sit and read all those books we never have time to. The gite is really well set out, lovely bathroom. ¨Phoebe is the perfect landlady, always there when you need advice, breakfast and helpful tips...and totally leaving you alone when that's all you want, à la Great Garbo. I'm going back. Don't know when, but I know I will be going back. Great for small families, single moms, romancing couples - young or old. Happy Holidaze
Response: Thanks for your great review. It was a pleasure to host you and your lovely kids here. Please keep in touch and come back again one day.

“Absolutely Fantastic”
From the moment we arrrived at Lou Messugo we knew we would have a perfect holiday. The accommodation is beautiful, exactly as stated on the website. Phoebe the owner was an excellent host, nothing was too much trouble and the location was perfect.
Lou Messugo is definitely Roquefort Le Pins best kept secret!! Already booked for next year. We have very high standards where holiday accommodation is concerned and would recommend without question this accommodation to anyone.
Already booked for next year......
Response: Thank you so much for your lovely words. We are thrilled that you are coming back again next year. That's the best recommendation we can get. See you in 2013!
My husband and I went to Lou Messugo with our two young children, aged 4 and 2. We made the right choice, as our holiday home was perfect. We felt at ease and relaxed straight away and the home had everything we could have possibly needed for our stay.
The children loved playing in the large garden and we spent every evening enjoying a BBQ and a few bottles of wine.....perfect!
The location was brilliant, as we were able to visit many different places, venturing to Cannes, Antibes, Grasse and Monaco (all were in easy reach).
Our hosts were great and knew the area really well, so advice was on hand if we needed/wanted it.
All in all a wonderful holiday - would love to come back (and probably will)!
Response: Thanks very much for your wonderful review. We really enjoyed meeting you and it makes us very happy that your holiday was such a success. Please do come back!

We just spent three lovely days at Lou Messugo and would definitely recommend it to couples or families with young children. The accommodation is great and there are lots of thoughtful extras for children like a well stocked toy box and high chairs.
It is very well placed for exploring this part of France and all it has to offer. We went on some lovely walks recommended by the owners and would love to come back with more time to explore more. We managed an afternoon on the beach in short sleeves but could still see snowy mountains. We will definitely return.
Response: Thank you for your kind words. We really enjoyed meeting you and your super cute kids! Please do come back again.

“Idyllic holiday spot”
Lou Messugo is a perfect place to stay while visiting the French Riviera. The location is ideal: a quiet, beautiful residential setting that is calm and relaxing but with easy car access to the bustle and energy of larger towns nearby (Cannes, Antibes, Nice, etc), beautiful small villages, as well as beaches and mountains for hiking or skiing. The apartment itself is lovely. Phoebe (the owner) has clearly traveled extensively herself and given careful thought to every last detail - it is sparkling clean, well-organized, comfortable, and equipped with everything you might need while on holiday. I visited with my two small children (ages 6 and 2) and our stay at Lou Messugo was easily the most relaxing and enjoyable part of our 10-day trip. There is lots of room for children to run around outside and plenty of toys and equipment for kids of all ages to play with. And the hosts and their children could not have been more gracious and friendly! Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you very much for your kind words. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Lou Messugo and loved hosting you.

“Accueil convivial”
