One of 4 detached villas, Villa Lucas is set back 75m from one of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches on the island of Rhodes. A well-equipped, spacious home, spread over 3 floors, with 3 terraces overlooking the sea, the villa is an ideal place for sharing families and couples who desire a relaxing break but without the stress of feeling away from home. UK satellite TV, wireless internet, a trampoline in the back garden, toys, games, video library and plenty of baby equipment are just some of the extras we offer our guests at Villa Lucas.
Afandou beach is known to be the cleanest and most natural on the island of Rhodes. The water is crystal clear and many Rhodians travel there for these reasons. There are sandy and stoney areas, beds, umbrellas and watersports if desired, and a handful of traditional Greek fish tavernas and restaurants scattered along the front. A fantastic swimming pool at a luxury 5* hotel is just a 5 minute walk away along the beach. The large pool is rarely busy with plenty of sun loungers, a large children's pool and play area, and an excellent pool bar/diner.
The villa is 2km from Afandou village - a large traditional Greek village full of friendly family run shops and boutiques, and plenty of traditional Greek bars and restaurants. Afandou Golf Course is a 5 minute drive along the beach - a scenic 18 hole course, open all year round with reasonable green fees and all equipment available to rent.

The villa comprises of 4 floors in total. The lower ground floor has a large bathroom and 2 bedrooms, 1 double + sofa bed and 1 twin which lead out to a lawned garden at the back.. The upper ground floor has a lounge and a kitchen with seating area leading out to a covered terrace with a large dining area and comfortable chairs. The 2nd floor has a double bedroom with a terrace and a bathroom. The roof of the property is also a terraced area with spectacular views. There is an extra bed available to be added to any of the bedrooms.
Baby equipment available: cot, + sheets, high chair, push chair, car seat (0-9kilo), baby relax chair, baby monitor, baby bath, plastic plates/cups/cutlery.

About us.....
My husband and I (both British) have been living on the Island full time since May 2006. My husband introduced me to Rhodes back in 2001, although he has been coming here for at least 17 years previous to this. His parents and his brother and wife have also lived there for many years so we are a well known family on the island!
We decided to make the leap and leave the UK back in 2006. We rented an apartment for a year, had our son 'Lucas' and then bought the villa in 2007. After 4 very happy and peaceful years we decided to move back to the UK for work commitments and British schooling but still coming back twice a year for holidays. A good friend of ours manages Villa Lucas for us and will greet you there on arrival (or at the nearest convenient time) and be on-hand to help you if you should need her during your stay.
We would like to add that we run Villa Lucas as a totally non-profit making British company, purely to cover our expenses. This is why you will find our prices significantly lower than other similar villas on the island. We are happy that we are bringing tourists to the island that will utilise the local business' and generate good tourism, rather than the large all-inclusive hotels that are monopolising Greece's tourism and taking away custom from the local people who need it more than ever.
The Aegean Islands region
The largest of the Aegean Islands, Rhodes is known as the 'Island of Sun' - having on average more sunny days than any other island, and according to Greek mythology, the Island belonging to Helios - the God of sun, who bathed the island in his radiance and made it the most beautiful in the Aegean sea.
Why pick Rhodes for your Greek holiday destination? It has so much to offer - it has fantastic weather, it is rich in history and places of natural beauty, culture and tradition, but also offers nightlife, water sports and family activities so there really is something for everyone.
The Rhodes / Afandou area
Geographically, Afandou is the ideal location for a holiday on Rhodes. It is almost equidistant from the main sight seeing attractions of the old town of Rhodes - the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe (20km), and the stunning white village of Lindos (30km). It is centraly located to all the best beaches on the island - Anthony Quinn Bay, Ladiko, Faliraki, Tsambika and of course Afandou beach, and being only a 20 minute car ride from Rhodes airport means you have no long and hot car journey to your holiday home after your plane journey.
Afandou is 5km from the resort of Faliraki - which is these days a much calmer family resort with masses of entertainment on offer . A huge Waterpark is the main attraction - also a bowling alley, the Luna park fairground, The Magic Castle (fun centre), go-karting, boat trips from the harbour, shopping, and many bars and restaurants to chose from.
Other sights of interest close to Afandou are The Seven Springs (Epta Piges) of Rhodes (an area of striking natural beauty for walks) and The Kalithea Spa - a remarkable Italian spa - recently renovated - with a museum and a stunning cafe/dining area overlooking a bathing area. At the far end of the beach above the resort of Kolymbia is Tsambika mountain (visible from Villa Lucas), at the top of which is the Tsambika monastery - known to the people of Rhodes as the fertility mountain - beware! The views from the top are breath-taking.
A drive inland will take you to the Valley of the Butterflys - a beautiful shady valley where thousands of butterflys go to reproduce in August. Further over on the West side of the Island is the site of Filerimos and the ancient city of Kamiros which together make a fascinating trip out. You can climb up the large cross monument at Filerimos (if you dare..) for a dramatic 360 degree view of the North of the Island. At the site of Kamiros you can see the remains of a very rich and advanced civilization that existed 3000 years ago.

Direct flights to Rhodes for UK guests operate from April to October and the rest of the year via Athens. The flight is aprox 3 hrs 45 mins from London and 4 hrs from Manchester. Ryanair have also just announced Rhodes as a new destination from April 2011 - offering very cheap prices from London Standstead and Liverpool. Direct flights mainly operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays although Easyjet also fly on Thursdays and Sundays from some UK airports. We recommend www.skyscanner.net to find the cheapest fare. We are more than happy to help you with any travel enquiries.
Villa Lucas is 20km from Rhodes aiport and easy to find following our instructions. We recommend a hire car when staying at Villa Lucas and we have an arrangement with a very reputable company to offer you special discount rates. To give you a rough idea you would probably pay between 17 - 25 euros a day (7 day hire) depending on the time of rental. You can arrange to pick up the car at the airport . Otherwise a taxi would cost aprox 35 euros.
If you prefer, buses do run regularly from Afandou village which is 2km from the villa, both North towards Rhodes Town and South towards Lindos, and are cheap and reliable.

We stayed at the end of april, which was just the right weather for us. The villa is in a great location for exploring the island as it is within half an hour of both lindos and rhodes old town. The villa is very close to the beach and there are plenty of super markets, restaurants and other facilities near by. We had five adults and one infant in our group and found the villa a good size for us all. The owners and their representitive were very helpful and the villla was well equiped and in good condition. I would recomend this villa to anyone, but especialy to groups with children who are looking to travel around the island by car. Rhodes is a facinating place with more than enough beautiful beaches, landscape and sites of historic interest for anyone. |

Had an amazing 4 weeks vacation there in september. The property has a lot of baby equipment (even for toddler) and backyard for playing. Nina is great at welcoming and helping with your problems. Great location - 3 min by feet to the one of the most clean and uncrowded beaches on the island. And please do not miss Katholiki tavern 7-10 min by feet from the property. Best food and especially cheapest prices for this kind of quality we tryed on Rhodos during our vacation. If we ever go back to Rhodes with the family we would certainly stay here again. |
