The Aegean Islands region

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands and one of the largest in the Aegean Sea. It is situated approximately 17.5 km from the coasts of Turkey. The population is about 130.000, of which approximately 60-70.000 reside in the city of Rhodes.

Rhodes airport and Rhodes town are both around 45 minutes drive to Villa Kalisto, this Island is packed with tourist attractions for all ages from the water theme park located just outside Rhodes town to the meeting of the waters on the very tip of the Southern tip of the Island, other attractions are Tsambika Monastery which is perched 287mts The legend is, that any woman, who has problems, having children should go up there (barefoot), to pray to the Virgin, she will be blessed with children. Here on Rhodes the success of this visit means the child must be called Tsambikos if it's a boy and Tsampika if it's a girl. This name is unique on Rhodes. If you doubt this habit, just call this name out on a busy street, and you will see how successful the monastery is!!

Local Places

Villa Kalisto sits between two local villages Lindos & Pefkos which can be reached within a few minutes by car or around a 15 minute walk.

Pefkos is well known for its leisurely pace, tranquillity and friendly atmosphere and a traditional taste of Greece but also a perfect spot for beach lovers and water sports. Visiting Pefkos by day will leave you with the impression of a quiet and relaxed holiday resort; however when the lights come on, the resort is bustling with warm, friendly activity. The main beach in Pefkos is a pure sand beach with many water sports and other activities.

The beautiful village of Lindos is one of the most attractive and visited villages in Rhodes, with its white washed houses, pebbled paved courtyards and winding cobbled streets built into the side of the mountain overlooked by the imposing ancient Acropolis. The village has numerous rooftop restaurants and bars scatted down the cobbled streets but for that special occasion and fine dining our recommendation is Ambrosia restaurant where the proprietor George will look after you personally!

"Ideal villa in great location"

There were two families (4 adults, 4 children) in our party and the house was perfect for us. Indoors, there are 4 good sized bedrooms, lovely lounge area, and good sized kitchen, but forget all that… More

"Great Villa in good location"

Villa was well equiped and spacious for our party of adults and teenagers. Postion good - just a short drive from either Pefkos or Lindos or a 6-7 euro taxi ride away. Pace of life on Rhodes is laid back to say the least, so suited us as we were happy to chill most of the time as the weather was very hot! We all had a wonderful holiday and hope to return - thanks!

"Wonderful Holiday spent at spacious Villa"

I spent a week at the villa with my extended family as my brother was getting married in Lindos. The villa catered for all and the owners had tried to think of everything we might need. Fantastic views and a good sized pool. A car was needed for supermarket trips and days out but a 25 min walk would get you to Lindos which was a gorgeous town and great to explore. My brothers fiancee's family stayed in the villa next door and this worked out perfectly. We had a fab week!

"Lovely villa, great location"

We were a family of 6 (4 teenagers) and loved the villa - very well furnished and everything we needed. The photos really don't do it justice. The location is great as quiet and private but so close to Lindos and shops, restaruants etc. Had forgotten how much I like Greece and Rhodes was lovely, very relaxed and welcoming and the food was great wherever we ate. We all particularly enjoyed the pool and the seating area and gardens and I would recommend the villa without hesitation.

"Great villa with lovely pool but you definately need a car"

Arrived and the villa wasn't quite ready but Shelley from the property management company let us stay and unpack whilst she finished off cleaning etc and even got her partner Scott to take us to the nearest supermarket for some much needed supplies. We thought from the villa info. we would be able to walk to a supermarket or even Lindos and Pefkos when we were feeling energetic but this is not possible. We did not hire a car but I would say you would definately need to unless you are prepared to get taxis everywhere even to pick up a newspaper. It was easy enough to get taxis, they arrived within 10 mins from when you phoned them but the price did vary depending on the driver! It was roughly 6-10 euros to either village and to the hyper market we were charged 15 euros one day just to get back but another driver charged us 15 euros for the return trip including waiting time! We had to phone Scott virtually everyday as there were problems with some of the air con units and the pool light and because it was so hot you really did need the bedroom air con during the night to sleep but Scott came out no problem when you called and got most of the problems fixed. The villa itself has everything you need but it is a little smaller than the pictures indicate and some of the furnishings are a little dated but not enough to detract from your holiday. We stayed for one week only and although the literature stated we would have a linen change we didnt but there is a washing machine if you get desperate! We would recommend the Enigma restaurant in Pefkos and definately find the butchers in Lindos as the steaks we got to BBQ were delicious! Overall we had a wonderful holiday and would return to this villa.

"Lovely, comfortable villa, good location"

Accommodation was good quality, very spacious with modern decor. Outdoor area was very well designed, with a dining table in the sun, but also a second table and some comfortable seating in the shade. Pool was large enough for our party size of 6 adults, and the BBQ was well used. Kitchen and indoor dining area was spacious, but lounge area could have been better laid out. Only 5 minutes drive from lovely Lindos, and the same distance to the smaller village of Pefkos. Lots of supermarkets nearby, so very easy to stock up on groceries. Great views of the mountain and sea from the back of the villa. The only gripe is that the air conditioning wasn't working properly in one of the bedrooms, and we couldn't get the DVD player to work, but this didn't spoil the holiday. We reported it on the last day to the agent who came to clean the pool, and they said they would look at this. Would highly recommend this villa for a relaxing stay with the huge benefit of a private pool.
