Apartments 'Marysol' (apartment)

Home description

The spacious sea view, 2 bedroom, 'Marysol' apartment is situated on the (top) 5th floor (2 lifts) of the very well situated Los Volcanes Residence, close to the beach and overlooking the pool with a children's area and surrounding gardens.

The wonderful Maspalomas/Playa del Ingles beach and dunes are 12 minutes walk away. The apartment and Residence are peaceful, while a small 'Spar' supermarket, restaurants, bars, nightlife, laundry and tennis are just round the corner; and watersports and the attractions of the resort are also within easy walking distance. Guests may use the tennis courts of the elegant Club next door ( with racquet and ball hire, all at reasonable charges).

The apartment has 2 bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed and a sea view and the other with 2 single beds); sea view dining balcony with table and 4 chairs; lounge; bathroom and kitchen/diner. A baby's cot is available on request.

A second almost identical apartment on the same floor of the Residence may be available at the same charges. Both apartments have very similar, open views to the sea.

Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas has an amazing golden sand beach stretching for more than 5 miles and the sunniest climate of Gran Canaria.There is an authorised naturist area on part of the beach. The beach, the famous dunes and a nature reserve were protected while the resort was developed around them in the 1970s.
Transit from Las Palmas airport is easy (about 25 mins); a taxi from the airport costs about 30 euros and there is a bus (cost about 5 euros).

The Gran Canaria region

Gran Canaria is probably the most interesting of the Canary Islands.The scenery and coastline are varied and spectacular with mountains, lush forests, and picturesque old villages. The language and culture are Spanish, though from around 3000 BC the island was inhabited by Cro-Magnon type people, the Guanchos. Much later Christopher Columbus stayed for periods in Las Palmas and the renowned author Galdos and painter Nestor were born there. Gran Canaria also has one of the world's best climates for year-round holidays, neither too hot nor too cold (average max 24C, min 19C all year).

.A car is not necessary for a holiday in the Marysol apartments in Playa del Ingles.The extensive local attractions can be reached on foot, cycle, taxi or the efficient bus services. For visits, less than hour away by bus are Las Palmas, the capital and an attractive small Spanish city, charming little ports and picturesque villages in the green hills and mountains behind the resort. Exploring Gran Canaria more widely, and especially in the scenic north, with a hired car is also rewarding. The Marysol apartments have a private car park (no charge).

Playa Del Ingles area

Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas has an amazing golden sand beach stretching for more than 5 miles and the sunniest climate of Gran Canaria. The beach, the famous dunes and a nature reserve were protected while the holiday resort was developed around them in the 1970s. The 'Marysol' apartments are located within an easy walk of the beach and its water sports, golf and tennis, as well as facilities of the resort with affordable restaurants, shops, sports, nightlife, children's attractions, bars and affordable restaurants. Enjoy the food, with fish fresh from the sea and local tropical fruits. The official Tourist Office down the road from the apartment provides free maps and advice.

How to get there

Fly to LAS PALMAS. There are good value flights from many UK and European cities, including from 2009 new Ryanair flights. Dialaflight (tel 0161 954 7097) can help find good, cheap flights.
TRANSIT FROM LAS PALMAS AIRPORT: Very easy. 25 minutes to the apartment by efficient official taxis at the airport for about 30 euros (seat 4). Also bus costing about 5 euros.
CAR HIRE. AVIS is reliable. There are many other firms.

we stayed at the marysol apartment at the end of october, we greatly enjoyed our stay, plenty to do and see within walkable distance, the apartment itself is very comfortable and well looked after,all four of us made use of the good sized pool, and if was relaxing to sit to sit on the lovely large balcony and look at the nicely kept gardens and the splendide views. we are definitely coming back to stay at marysol again because it is a good base not only for the surrounding area but also if you want to go further afield. thank you for the chance to stay on this island. veronica

When UK was water logged, it was a great two weeks of totally blue skies, yet relatively cool with a continual gentle breeze.
The apartment was as stated, clean tidy and with understated great views across the distant Dunes, great to enjoy your first bottle of chilled wine out on the balcony. In the height of summer the apartment was comfortable enough without Aircon although the provided fans did help.
The resort is diverse and has something for everybody, with the apartments being centrally located it was a great base to explore the whole of Playa del Ingles, but also the wider local area on the frequent cheap buses - no need to hire a car.
Maria & William's communications for booking and whole experience gave us the reassurance to book again or recommend to friends.

We stayed here for nearly 3 wks and found the location to be convenient to the beach, Irish Centre ( if you wanted a bit more noise), Yumbo Centre ( convenient but far enough away to escape any noise etc), main bus route and a friendly Irish Bar ( Eamonn's).

The Apartment itself excellent and the wine in the fridge on arrival was very much appreciated. The pool area is well maintained and fairly quiet, ideal if you want a really relaxing place to sunbath.
