The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region
Languedoc is one the most diverse regions of France offering mountains, lakes, rivers and beautiful stretches of coastline with golden beaches. There are major towns including the chaming regional capital of Montpellier, historic Beziers and fairytale citadels, notably Carcassonne.
The Pezenas / Nizas area
Pezenas is the spiritual home of Moliere, France's pre-eminent playwright who entertained the French court there in the seventeenth century. Today, much of the centre of town is taken over by the Saturday market while there is a variety of restaurants to be found on the stone cobbled streets of the old town, side by side with the numerous artisanal shops and workshops who plie their trade seven days a week during the summer months.
