The Marche/Abruzzo region
Abruzzo - The 30 per cent of the Abruzzo region is protected by environmental laws. No other region in Europe can boast as much. Not for nothing is he called "the region of parks". Three national parks, a regional park and scores of nature reserves and protected areas. In a region so it seems natural that the capital is called L'Aquila. Dominated by an imposing sixteenth-century castle (which houses the Museo Nazionale d'Abruzzo), L'Aquila has splendid civic and religious monuments, the medieval and Renaissance. On the coast of Abruzzo (which has crowded seaside resorts) excels Pescara, birthplace of Gabriele D'Annunzio (whose birthplace is now a small, charming museum). At Chieti there is an important National Archaeological Museum, known (and rewarded) for the modernity and effectiveness of its exhibitions. The "piece" of the museum is the Warrior of Capestrano, a funerary statue of the sixth century BC, found in the province of L'Aquila in 1934. In Teramo not miss the magnificent fifteenth-century altar frontal (inside the cathedral), the great goldsmith of Abruzzo, Nicola da Guardiagrele. But the artistic and architectural treasures of Abruzzo is rich in surprising ways,
Church of St. Andrew the Apostle:
we have news of the church as early as 866.La church, founded by the monks of Casauria, was rich in elements and Graci Gotici.Nel sixteenth century its state of decay was so advanced that it was decided to abbatterla.Nel eighteenth century, on those ruins was built the present church.
Convent of San Patrignano: the church of San Patrignano is situated on a hill and has a Baroque facade and inside there are frescoes of the seventeenth century.
Church of San Rocco, the church of San Rocco has a facade in Renaissance style, with Doric pilasters and blind arcades.
The Castle: The castle, located in the upper part of the country, was founded in the ninth century by the Lombard Corbino that gave birth to the original village.
The facade has neoclassical appearance today, with the portal frontonato and windows adorned with curved pediments. The interior features several rooms, halls, stairs, vaults are barrel, some painted and decorated with friezes.
