Spend relaxing holidays in Croatia!

Enjoy your vacation in the luxurious Villa Besida, an authentic country stone house, ideal for families seeking peace and relaxation in nature. Enjoy a beautiful view of the sea, magical wine and a scent of lavender fields.

FIRST GUESTS

"We have spent most summers in the past decade at Villa Besida, observing how this family has lovingly restored and developed the house, with exquisite taste. There is nothing more perfect that the evening view from the terrace. The village is on the south-east coast of Istria, with the more touristic areas a short drive away. Perfectly suited to our family, which includes two children now aged 10 and 12. We cannot recommend it highly enough."

THE HOUSE

There are 6 rooms at your disposal. One of them is a large room for 2-4 persons with en-suite shower room and there are 5 double bedrooms. Two of them have toilet ensuite, for the rest, there are 4 separate bathrooms available, three with a shower, and one of them with a traditional bathtub as well.

The house has two kitchens and a small living room with an authentic Istrian fireplace. There is also a large living room (7x6m) that can be used as a conference room or for similar activities. Three terraces with a breathtaking view of the Istrian coast are smartly distributed on all levels and sides of the house. Tavern for evening entertainment, a barbecue and a large garden surrounding the house (300m2) where one can relax, sunbathe, play sports etc are crucial elements of a relaxing vacation.

ABOUT THE HOSTS

We are a family who restored the house the way that will make us and everyone staying at Besida feel even better than at home. We wanted to make it cozy, visually appealing and, above all, we wanted to make it a relaxing and inspiring space.

Although we live in central Croatia, we have always loved visiting Istria because its people, landscapes, and magical atmosphere always boost our spirits and help us unwind and enjoy life. This house was ideal because it is situated near the sea, airport, highway and a short and pleasant drive away from almost every Istrian attraction, festival or charming location.

We fell in love with the house because it is a stone house that carries the aura of old and romantic rural Istria but with adaptation we added a modern and artistic touch to it with all the necessary modern appliances and carefully decorated interior. Every room has a terrace with a sea view. The air is fresh with a scent of wild herbs. The night sky looks a lot better than even the most precise HD presentations of stars. People coming from towns and light polluted areas could not believe we were standing under the same sky.

BUT WHERE IS THE POOL?

We tend to be as much Earth friendly as possible.

That is one of the reasons why we have decided to invest our future funds in renewable sources of energy instead of investing in a pool. We believe that one can enjoy nature without the pool and that swimming in the amazingly clear sea on the nearby secluded beaches is a more valuable experience.

The Istria region

Istria is indeed a feast for the eyes. Its streams flow to the sea through deep valleys and gullies which bring to mind the ancient local myths about giants. Rolling hills overlook the fields and valleys with little towns perched on the peaks, recalling some old paintings. The view is splendid: white-topped mountains, lush wheat fields, plateaux, valleys, vineyards and olive groves on hillsides, and, finally the sea.

As you get to know Istria you will notice more and more enchanting details: church facades and portals, tiny village alleyways with their specific architectural touches, the babble of a stream, the blossoming cherries. Everything is warm–hearted and friendly here: nature, towns and people.

Istria is famous for myriad cultural events ranging from film festivals (Pula Film Festival, Motovun Film Festival) to Jazz festivals (Valamar Jazz Festiva, Last Minute Open Jazz Festival, Jazz is Back...) and theatre and dance festivals (PUF, Dance & Non-verbal Theatre Festival San Vincenti) etc.

Istrian olive oil and wine are among the best in the world.

Peruski

"PULA in Croatia is best known for its unspoilt scenery, wine-making and fishing. That's if you've heard of it at all.

(...)

Pula's ancient treasures include an impressive Roman amphitheatre that now plays host to the city's film festival every July.

Our very own relic Sir Tom Jones played there last summer too.

The city's gates, walls and temples are a monumental treat and you can cover them all easily on foot.

Then head for the picturesque main street, Sergijevaca, where you'll find souvenir shops, pretty bars and restaurants overflowing with locals.

(...)

No time for hangovers, though. Next stop was the Brijuni Islands, a short ferry ride away. Once a part of Italy, the islands were ceded to Yugoslavia after World War Two.

The stunning port is carpeted with ancient pines and a 1,700-year-old olive tree. The best way to nip around the island is on a golf buggy.

Almost 100 heads of state visited there and Yugoslavia's leader Marshal Tito made it his summer home, along with stars including Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

There's a cute tourist train that lulls past 13th Century St Mary's Church but the main attraction on the island is a safari park full of animals descended from those given as gifts to Tito.

After fun in the sun, naturally we had to finish off with a selection of the finest seafood and wine, washed down with lethal local honey brandy.

The harbourside restaurant Korta finished us off with dish after dish of delicious fish.

The final meal of the holiday was at local restaurant Konoba Batelina. The owner, a fisherman, has his family serving up a variety of — yes, you guessed it — fish.

Watching the sun go down on the terrace while eating a variety of delicacies, from juicy scallops to raw sushi and brudet (fish ghoulash), then a variety of desserts like homemade cheesecake and our favourite mint chocolate mousse, ensured a food coma and the first decent night's sleep of the trip.

If you want to impress, then take your loved one to this magical city."
