The Island of Malta region

The Maltese Islands – Malta Gozo and Comino are only 93 km south of Sicily and 288 km north of Africa. The size of Malta is about 27 km long by 14.5 km width taking just over an hour’s drive between its two furthest points.

Predominantly warm and sunny, the Maltese Islands experience short and mild winters and long hot summers. Rainfall is generally confined to be the months between September and April. The winter Months, December to March, are mild and far from severe. Malta’s enjoyable lifestyle, good social life, and rich culture makes it an ideal place to spend a lovely holiday in.

Malta has been inhabited since around 5200 BC and has some of the oldest free-standing building structures in the world. Once part of the Roman Empire, it was seized and controlled by many factions over the centuries, including Napoleon. In 1814, it became a British Colony. Malta gained its independence in 1964 and today forms part of the European Union. Malta has two official languages, Maltese and English.

Whether you are seeking to relax in the sun, or to learn more about Malta’s History, then be sure that Malta is the place you deserve. Throughout the years Malta and its sister Islands have become a major attraction in the Mediterranean not only for their weather and History, but also for the many different activities one can find on the Islands. From all major water sports to Golf, Music, Theatre or Arts, night life and Mediterranean cuisine.

Malta’s general Hosipital is Mater Dei in Birkirkara, however besides Mater Dei one can also find a further 3 main private Hospitals. Furthermore one can find various Medical Clinics in every district.

Shops are usually opened from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs and 1600 hrs to 1900 hrs. However in most tourist areas shop stay open throughout the day and stay open until 2200 hrs. The main shopping areas may be found in Valletta and Sliema. All major credit cards are accepted at most leading shops and restaurants.

Mellieha is a rural village and tourist resort in the North-western part of Malta and derives its name from the Semitic root 'm-l-h' which in Arabic means salt. The name was probably derived from the ancient Punic and Roman salt-terns; historians indicated as lying adjacent to the large sandy bay at the foot of the village.

Mellieha is one of Malta's most picturesque tourist destinations.

The town centre boasts of its splendid hotels, fine restaurants and traditional cute shops. It has a unique primary school, a majestic baroque church (built in late 19th century) and various cultural organizations, including band clubs, sports clubs, an orchestra, various religious societies, a parish community centre and an environmental pressure group. Since 1993, local affairs are being run by the Mellieha Local Council, an institution made up of seven councillors, elected every three years by the people.

Mellieha's main festive season occurs in the first two weeks of September and reaches its climax on the 8th September. During these days various cultural manifestations are held, such as musical concerts, fireworks, folk singing, art exhibitions and the traditional religious procession. The town's people, ''Il-Mellehin'', are renowned for their laborious nature, their ironic sense of humour, and their friendliness and hospitality. Those who visit us, no matter where they hail from, do not merely enjoy themselves but feel at home.

"Beatiful villa, and a perfect holliday"

Last July I went to the June Ville with some friends. We stayed for two weeks and we had a wonderful time. I think this villa is suitable for many holidays. If you are, like me, with a group of friend, with your partner or with the family I think you do have a great time in this villa.

The owners lives above the villa, but this is no problem at all. The owners are very helpful and very kind.

So, if you looking for a nice place to stay, don't hesitate and go to the June Ville!
