From the owner

Typical house lived for several generations restored faithfully reproducing the situation inherited. The flooring is the same as always, the early twentieth century, recovered. Some walls, the last restoration, retain the same plaster of the last century. The windows have been recovered, as well as the inner door. The bathroom was completely redone in a modern style with emotional shower. The built-in kitchen is reproduced as well as they used to build it in Matera, of course with all modern amenities. The visitor will sleep in a comfortable home, but in an environment as close as possible to life in the early twentieth century. One of the peculiarities of this house that I like to point out, and that is when you are sitting in the kitchen, and when you are lying in bed, you can admire the Sassi from its large floor to ceiling windows.

Very special place

This small and beautiful place made us feel as if we lived there. Loved it! Matera was our favorite place in southern Italy.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Habitat (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
