The Antigua region
Located in the Leeward Islands of the West Indies, Antigua offers a beautiful island location with 365 palm-fringed beaches. The year round average temperature ranges from 25-32C and cooling trade winds and calm waters create the ideal setting for sheer relaxation and an endless choice of water sports. If you are able to drag yourself away from the beach, experiencing some of Antigua's other attractions is well worth the effort.
Enjoy a stroll through the lovely English Harbour brimming with stylish yachts to Nelsons Dockyard. This former colonial naval base was visited by Lord Nelson in the 18th Century and today boasts beautifully restored colonial buildings. A highlight of any holiday to Antigua is visiting Shirley Heights at sunset; upon reaching the summit, you are rewarded with incredible island views against a backdrop of a true Caribbean sunset. Antigua's pristine beaches, laid back atmosphere and charming culture offer the perfect location for a villa holiday.
Brightside villa is set in a beautiful part of the island enjoying National Park surroundings with rolling hills and lush vegetation and within a leisurely stroll or bike ride from Devil's Bridge, one of Antigua's most beautiful eco-tourism destinations. The villa is also a few minutes walk from Long Bay, one of Antigua's most beautiful beaches protected by a reef and providing excellent swimming and snorkelling.

"A fantastic holiday destination, where nothing more can be asked for"
Brightside is an amazing place to stay on holiday - clean, spacious, wonderful views and perfect for a relaxing time away. I stayed out there with some friends and we had an excellent time, it was exactly as advertised (which many places online actually aren't!!) and the position was fab. The villa has everything you might need during your stay, and one could happily spend the whole time there and not need to leave! The link to the Verandah Hotel means that you can use the facilities there which allows for a slightly more active holiday if you wish (we personally enjoyed the volleyball court, even in the pouring rain!). There are some great restaurants out there and the taxis are very reasonable if you wish to travel around the island. I would recommend this villa whole-heartidly for anyone looking to travel to Antigua.

"A truly "top of the range" holiday villa"
"Brightside" made our Antigua holiday really memorable. There were six of us - 2 late sixties grandparents, 2 late forties parents and 2 kids aged 11 and 9.
The villa is incredibly spacious and airy (even if there were 8 people, not just us 6). It's facilities are first class throughout - a comprehensive set of top class appliances (eg. American style washer, drier, large oven and hob, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer with ice-maker), air-conditioning and ceiling fans in abundance, more than enough furniture both inside, and outside on the large covered terraces, and a lovely large swimming pool with waterfall.
The location is superb - quiet and peaceful, with sea views back and front, yet within a few minutes walk of Long Bay beach (lovely swimming and snorkelling, and 3 beach bars/ restaurants) where locals and holiday-makers mix in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The villa is also a few minutes walk away from The Verandah resort, with which it has a relationship, ie. you can use all the resort's facilities - swimming pools, beach activities, tennis, mini-golf, shuttle service between reception and the various bars and restaurants, etc. The resort also "looks after" the villa if there are any issues (there weren't for us).
Brightside is situated in a quiet part of Antigua, but only a half-hour drive from the airport, and from St Johns (where there is an excellent large American style supermarket), and from most of the Island's many great beaches and attractions (eg. English Harbour/ Nelson's Dockyard/ Shirley Heights).
If you're looking for a luxury villa holiday in Antigua, stay at Brightside.

What a place! We spent 10 days at Brightside Villa over Christmas with my mother and her boyfriend (in their 70's), my husband and I (in our forties), my two teenage kids (17 year old girl and 15 year old boy), and my daughter's good friend. Every one of us had a wonderful time.
The villa is spacious - plenty of room for all of us to spread out, spend time together or alone. The view from the master bedroom and porch was amazing. We enjoyed most meals outside on the back porch next to the pool. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed. The pool was kept clean by the staff from the resort. We had one problem one night - accidentally locked ourselves out of a room. Not sure how we did that... but we called the resort to ask for help and they were over within minutes to help us out.
I didn't realize how nice it would be to have all of the resort facilities within walking distance. I am pretty sure we used every amenity there with the exception of the kids club for child care. We did every watersport, multiple times. We played miniature golf, ping pong, pool, foosball, and went to the fitness center. There was a great little bar / cafe overlooking the main beach that we visited many times.
The Long Bay beach next door was a nice alternative within walking distance as well. As we rented only one car that held 5 people, we decided to have our last night's dinner at a restaurant at Long Bay Beach because it was within walking distance. It was a homemade pasta place, I think called Mama's. The food was wonderful.
Based on a recommendation from the Verandah activities office, early in our trip we took the Xtreme circumnavigation tour around the island on a speed boat, stopping at a number of places along the way. It was a great way to start the vacation.
I am fairly sure we'll be back there again one day. We've got really great memories from the trip, and the villa was fantastic.
