There is plenty of parking space.
There is a gated driveway entrance to the property which provides complete privacy.

Plenty of space around to enjoy the pool and terracing facilities, twinkly lights from the local villages to see when drinking your wine in the evening.
Very much gives a feeling of getting away from it all. Patio furniture, sun loungers, outside table and chairs. BBQ with terracing. Spot lights at night for pool. Enjoy being in your own Spanish haven.

For cooler months there is a woodburner stove plus 2 heaters, 1 in the lounge, and 1 in the bedroom.
We would request should holiday makers require the woodburner they would need to purchase wood.
The Andalucia region
The Axarquia region is East of Malaga where we enjoy tropical climates and beautiful mountain ranges close to the sea. Many of the coastal villages have become fashionable resorts yet still retain their charm. Eating and drinking is a real pleasure in sidewalk cafés or on the beach.
Granada and the Siera Nevada are around an hour drive from the Lake area where you can ski from November to May. Alhama de Granada boasts natural hot springs open to the public all year round.
The Nerja Caves are well worth a visit and host annual music and dance festivals within its famous caverns. At the foot of Nerja town there is a winding footpath joining several coves with some great beaches to be discovered. Head to the cosmopolitan marinas of Marbella. Costa del Sol/Axarquia really does offer something for everyone.
Located in the heart of Andalucia with wonderful views is Lake Vinuela, only simple sailing boats allowed. Enjoy the opportunity to go bird watching, riding, cycling and walking with miles upon miles of wonderful footpaths and riverbeds to explore. Plenty of picnic areas with views of lake.
The historic village of Comares is on a mountain top with panoramic views of the Axarquia. Velez Malaga is the capital town where local produce and clothes are sold on Thurdays. If you enjoy walking go the top of Mount Maroma along one of it's paths located at Canilla and Sedella.
Trek through the beautiful countryside or visit the Buddhist temple which is only a 20 minute walk away. The nearest villages Los Romanes, Vinuela, Puente don Manuel are around 10 minutes drive, all with supermarkets. The historic cities of Granada. Seville, Cordoba and Malaga are all within driving distance.
The countryside is rich in beauty with rolling hills, mountain peaks and fertile areas where there were once thriving olive groves. The beautiful whitewashed villages of Periana and Comares are only a short drive away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants for a relaxing evening out and local produce such as wine, almonds, raisins, olives, honey and cheese make for a tasty bite to eat back at the villa. The perfect location to relax and unwind!

"A fab getaway!"
We stayed for a week in July 2013 and it was fantastic! The villa is a real getaway, very secluded, yet easy enough to find with the directions provided by Gill & Chris. We hardly left the villa as it was so relaxing, choosing to BBQ most nights. The villa is rustic as expected, however eveything was provided. The pool was a good size and private. I would recommend and we would return for definite!

"Fantastic traditional little house - highly recommended!"
We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Casa Los Montes El Monecilla with our two year old son. The house is of a traditional style with thick stone walls and wooden shutters that keep it cool in the summer and a lovely little swimming pool that offers views of the valley and the surrounding fruit trees. All very well looked after.
It is perched on the side of a hill with only two other houses in sight. We particularly enjoyed watching the shepherd every evening grazing his flock of goats and sheep around the valley. The location makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Having said this, there are several restaurants within a few minutes' drive, the nearest supermarket is only 15 minutes away and the nearest beach only 20 minutes.
We were able to explore all around Lake Vinuela and the surrounding villages and even made a day trip over to Granada to visit the Alhambra.
We feel like we got a taste of the 'real' Spain while being less than an hour from Malaga airport.

"Beautiful location and the house is great but......................."
Whilst the house itself and pool area and terraces are rather nice we were badly let down by the decor and house-keeping!
Internally the house needs decorating badly, was not cleaned properly and was frankly dingy with bedding that was old and musty and that we believe hadn't been changed after the previous occupants - despite the owners denials about this!
Externally we had to weed the upper terrace and sweep it ourselves to tidy it up!!!
All a shame as it's great little place but requiring a lot of TLC to bring it up to a decent rentable standard!!
You were offered a complete new set of bed linen which would have been delivered and changed within 20 minutes of your arrival...so why did you not accept this offer? Especially if you believed (wrongly!!!) the bed linen was not changed from the previous occupants. The musty smell was most certainly not inside the property or the sheets when cleaning took place, the day prior to your arrival, as explained, we encountered very bad rainfall and heavy winds, and as the property is in the middle of a mountain side in Andalucía, the land surrounding the property was saturated and this was the culprit for the 'musky smell' you state, which I actually think is a rather earthy and lovely smell... the property was for sure aired prior to your arrival and the windows opened. As for stating that the bedding hadn't been changed from the previous occupants - do you really think I would risk our holiday home reputation, which has had many holiday maker returning year on year referring to the house as their second home? The house does not need decorating and we have had no complaints about this ever! The walls are painted on a regular basis. It is a rustic rural home, and whilst it is decorated to a degree in the 'Shabby Chic' style, previous holiday makers like the charm and authenticity of this. You did comment on the walls not being as white as in the picture...well...perhaps you made a wrong choice in abode and should have gone for a modern apartment with shared pool and with white leather sofas or something of that ilk...re the weeds...it had been pouring down as stated prior to your arrival and thankfully the sun shone on your week...the weeds were minimal ...but granted there were weeds and they would have been dealt with, and needed to be removed by hand, if weed killer was used it would have sunk into the well water and caused unseen problems....also with regards to sweeping the terrace, this for sure had been done prior to your arrival, but unfortunately again due to previous weather status ..you can sweep away in Andalucía...but if you have a bit of rain and bit of wind which blows up dust from the tracks and land...you will get back a bit of dust and dirt.. I think you have been underhanded in your comments and wrong in not allowing me the opportunity to have met with you and resolved your issues and briefed you on 'campo life in Andalucia'. You did state that should you need any assistance from me you would text, which you didn't! I was only 5 minutes away. Next time if you have a problem you should allow the home owner to sort it directly while you are on holiday rather than wait and then submit a bad review...not a fair way to deal with things Sir. Pleased you termed the house as 'a great little place' ..and it would be lovely if you returned for another visit, you did enjoy a good week weather-wise in May ...I would even go mad and buy you some Luxurious Indian Cotton White sheets ...how about that!

"Perfect, secluded retreat."
A lovely traditional Spanish property in a beautiful location with stunning panoramic views. Its secluded location gave the feeling of the real Spain. Great service from obliging, unintrusive, friendly owners. Local amenities only 10 minutes away. Beach and large supermarkets 20 minutes easy drive. We had everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday and would definitely recommend it. We will return soon.
