Khomba House was designed by a leading young Sri Lankan architect and completed in 2009. With it's wide open spaces and high ceilings it combines the feeling of a cool beach house with a classic Sri Lankan colonial villa. Established in partnership with the neighbouring Bar Reef resort, the villa offers perfect seclusion with access to the facilities of a larger destination offering infinity pools, restaurants, bars and plenty of massage and yoga
Set in the middle of six acres of private tropical gardens which provide two hundred metres of virgin beachfront with golden sands. Unlike the beaches of the South the sea is beautifully calm and free from currents.
The Villa is fully staffed with a superb chef, manager, maid and gardeners. Meals can be taken however you wish from a BBQ at the beach house, under the stars in the garden or under the high ceilings of the wonderfully ventilated dining room.
With its own boat for your exclusive use you can visit the daily display of 1000's of dolphins, venture further out to visit whales or enjoy snorkelling of the neighbouring Bar Reef.
Khomba enjoys close friendly relationships with neighbouring facilities providing you with access to three superb pools and their accompanying bars and dining facilities.
The Villa comprises of two double bedrooms, with en suite facilities, and a further day room which can accommodate a further three people. There are also daybeds in the main bedrooms which are suitable for small children. There is an 18x5 metre veranda providing most of the day space with views looking across the garden to the beach.
With absolute privacy guaranteed (and zero hawkers), children can safely roam the coconut groves and comb the beach to their hearts content and if the sumptuous Sri Lankan curries are not to their taste then the chef willl happily reproduce their favourite meals.
During the low season the area just North of Khomba, with its shallow lagoon, has become a Mecca for kite and windsurfers. Courses can be booked for beginners and advanced sailors will love the variety of sea states and consistent winds.
Khomba Beach House was voted as a Harpers Bazaar Top 10 Beach destination.

We try and be as completely flexible with bookings as possible. If you plan to stay a couple of days and then go off to Wilpattu, Sri Lanka's largest national park, for a couple of nights, we'll do our best to keep the house for you on your return, but not charge you while you are away.
Planning on a longer trip? Include Khomba on a circular tour taking in the tea estates of the highland, the cultural triangle and the Wilpattu National Park. We are very happy to provide advice on how to make the most of your Sri Lankan holiday.
Further details indoors
The house is laid out in a classic Sri Lankan style. In addition to the two double bedrooms, which have a further daybed in each there is an en suite living room which has three day beds. The vast main living area is completely open to the sea affording panoramic views of the Indian ocean. The dining room lies just off the main living area, adjoining the kitchen. This too is open to the beach front. The Villa is set in six acres of what was formerly a coconut plantation. Now planted with a variety of fruits, clients are free to wander through the leafy palms to their own covered beach hut situated right at the waters edge.
If you can muster the energy there's a volley ball court and all the beach toys including fishing and snorkelling equipment.
Normally guests allow our chef to guide them through an exquisite array of Sri Lankan dishes, but if you have a particular hankering for prawn, tuna, lobster or crab, they can be supplied at a moments notice.
Worried about the food being too spicy? Our challenge is to make sure that all tastes are catered for and the chef will do her utmost to make everyone happy.
Further details outdoors
From October to April guests are able to go out whale and dolphin watching, a truly spectacular phenomenon as literally hundreds gather in the feeding grounds just off the reef.
The villa has four bicycles which allow guests the opportunity to travel the wider resort, or if they're feeling very energetic, make the 5km trip into the local town.
Boat trips are also available to go snorkelling on the reef or fishing. New to the area is the nearby kite surfing school which operates off the inland lagoon.
During the low season the area is probably one of the best spots in Asia for kite surfing and windsurfing with numerous schools taking advantage of the flat water and consistent afternoon breeze.
Khomba has it's own Tuk Tuk, so at a moments notice you can be whisked to anywhere in the locality
