The Cape Cod region

The outer Cape has a unique charm. A narrow peninsula with the wild open ocean at one side with miles of protected national seashore. Sand dunes and empty beaches - even in the height of summer, just a few minutes walk takes you away from the crowds.

An artist's paradise, this is a landscape of sand and sea with the odd lighthouse. A short hop across the Cape to the bay side where the warmer quieter side of the Atlantic makes for good swimming at high tide and nature walks at low tide. The home of a string of old whaling towns, Cape Cod bay has entrancing sunsets and old world charm. The bayside towns have long been the refuge of artists, and from bustling Provincetown to the Cape's 'elbow' at Orleans, these towns still offer the day's fishing catch as well as a myriad galleries, shops and restaurants.

To top this off, between the open ocean and charming bay lie a series of glacial freshwater lakes. Sand bottomed, these lakes are some of the most delightful places to swim imaginable.

Cape Cod is one of the best places in the world to experience marine wildlife. Provincetown offers a range of boat trips for fishing, sailing and whale watching. There are boat and bike hire places in most towns.

Eastham

Eastham is an historic town and home to Nauset Lighthouse and the famous Coast Guard Beach. The property is on one of the town's quiet, wooded roads with no through traffic and lots of space. The house is only a few minutes from the Cape Cod bike trail - a disused railway line that's been refurbished as a cycle super highway for the outer Cape. On this trail, it's a very short ride to Orleans Rock Harbour, to Eastham's freshwater ponds and bayside beaches, and there's easy access to the Salt Pond landing and the National Seashore visitor centre.

You can walk or ride to Orleans town centre for shopping or an ice cream. Head further out on the Cape towards Wellfleet to one of the few remaining Drive-In movie theaters for an evening of fun, or to the National Audubon Centre for an early morning bird walk.

"Just perfect"

We have been to the Cape before but stayed in Provincetown, this property have us the opportunity to see whole different side the the area, while still being within driving distance of P town.
The house lived up to its description, it had been tastefully done up by its new owners, offering a homely feel with all the mod cons you could want.
Many a happy afternoon spent on the deck with a cold beer planning which beach to visit the next day.
If you get the chance spend time at Fox Den its just perfect.
