About the home

The house was built 8 years before the French Revolution and retains many 18th Century features, exposed beams, terracotta tiled floors, open log fire made of Toulouse brick.

The house tastefully blends modern facilities, a newly fitted kitchen, two new shower ( 'wet') rooms and dining area, plus broadband, TV & Satellite and pool. A woodburner has just been installed.

The house is situated at the end of a lane in a quiet hamlet surrounded by fields but within easy distance of St Puy (3km) and Castera Verduzan (9kms).

Condom, Lectoure and Fleurance (with it's famous market) are just a short drive away. Swimming, cycling and walking are all on the doorstep - so are many medieval vilages to explore. Or simply sample the many local restaurants (from Michelin starred menus to regional fare), Armagnac and renowned vineyards (Chateau Monluc is visible from the house).

The Midi-Pyrenees / Gers region

This is sunflower country although Gascony in south-west France is still largely a farming area. As well as sunflowers the area is known for foie gras, Armagnac and Pousse Rapierre (made at Château Monluc in the nearby village of St Puy).

Predominantly rural and undiscovered Le Gers offers an authentic taste of France.

The Condom / St Puy area

Alongside the fruits of the land are many historical fortified towns, Fourcès, Montréal, Romieu and numerous Abbeys, these are nestled between the larger cathedral towns of Condom, Lectoure and Fleurance each with their own markets (Fleurance being the most visited).

Slightly further afield are the historic towns of Agen (Canal du Midi/Canal du Garonne) Montauban, Albi. Pau and Lourdes. The area is midway between the thriving cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse (each approx 85kms away). To the south are the numerous ski resorts of the French Pyrenees (often visible as you drive along the local roads).

A great spot to unwind on holiday or to use as a base for house-hunting.

Flights to Toulouse or Bordeaux (British Airlines or Easyjet). Travel time from the airport is approx 90mins by motorway or principal road.

Pau or Bergerac (depart from Stansted, Luton or Bristol) is also possible, but slightly longer travel time (2hrs) from the airport.

The nearest TGV station is in Agen approx 40 mins away has direct links to Paris and then onto London (Eurostar), through tickets are readily available.

“We have rented many holiday homes/villas, this was truly outstanding.” We received a very warm welcome and tour of the house and grounds. The house was beautifully clean and well equipped. The house is in an idyllic setting, surrounded by rolling countryside with St. Puy in the distance. High quality fittings and furnishings. Great pool and beautiful garden to relax in. This is a really beautiful part of France, at the moment relatively undiscovered by English travellers. The restaurant in the local village in St. Puy is great - excellent food and beautiful setting. Stay here if you want undisturbed peace and pleasure.
