The house stands on a stunning location of grove of trees and bougainvillea and frangipani on a coral headland jutting out into the Indian Ocean. Beaches stretch out on either side. It has been a family house for 45 years. It is a combination of old style Swahili house with makooti roofing and Arab influence.

It includes 5 double bedrooms, 3 (downstairs) with air conditioning, two upstairs with overhead fans. 3 showers, 1 bath, 4 toilets, sitting room and extensive verandas. About this location

The Coast Province region

Malindi is the second largest coastal town after Mombasa. There are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing in and around Malindi. The town was an important Swahili settlement founded in the 14th century. Many Swahili buildings that clearly reflect the influences of Middle-Eastern architecture have survived in the old town area of Malindi. The town also has several remainders from the time the Portuguese ruled Malindi.

Watamu to the South, has Gedi ruins, before driving down to the beach itself, which is truly spectacular in places.

Casuarina

Both Malindi and Watamu have Marine National Parks, and the goggling is very good.

Scuba diving is available, as is Kite surfing, Wind Surfing, Riding, and other water sports.

Tsavo National Park is in easy reach, a 3 hour drive, with much choice of camps to stay to view the animals.

"Beautiful and incredibly relaxing"

Ritchie House is absolutely wonderful. We felt immediately relaxed when we arrived and Francis, Richard and Justus were brilliant at keeping us relaxed the whole week. Beautiful location, delicious food, great books on the shelves, and a very easy place to be. Mohamed the taxi driver was also very reliable and kind. Malindi is a very nice town with real atmosphere, some great restaurants and very easy to get around with Tuks Tuks or a Boda Boda. Thank you for lending us your lovely family house.

"Perfect House, Perfect Location, Amazing Food"

Three of us stayed at this amazing house over Christmas. It was beyond what we had hoped. The location was brilliant - private, easy beach access, back from the road, views from every angle. If you want a relaxing beach holiday where relaxation is paramount, look no further. Additionally, the three staff are unobtrusive and welcoming. Francis, the cook, delivered daily surprises. His imaginative dishes delighted us every day. We'd simply give him some cash to buy fresh seafood, fruit etc each day and he'd provide restaurant-style meals. In fact, we ventured out only once to eat at a nearby restaurant and wished we'd stuck with Francis and his cooking. We paid three times the price for not even half the quality. Can't wait to be back at this house.

"Beautiful secluded house by the beach"

This is a lovely place to stay. The location couldn't be more perfect. it is wonderfully hidden away, yet just set back from the beach, with private steps down onto the sand. The garden is large, with mature trees and shrubs offering welcome shade and beautiful flowers. It is almost on its own little promontory, and you can saunter to the end and watch the fishing dhows come and go and marvel at how different the beach looks at different states of the tide. The house itself is big and full of character. It is a perfect place to really relax....large open verandahs give plenty of airy comfortable spots to sit, bookshelves are crammed with interesting books, and paintings and carvings abound. All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms are simple but adequate. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient and the food they cooked for us was fantastic. There were only 4 of us staying, but the house could easily accommodate 8 or 10. We loved it and would very happily go again.
