About the home

On the Tuscan-Umbrian border, close to Lago Trasimeno and the historic town of Castiglione Del Lago, LA VIGNA is located in the hamlet of Vitellino, set in a rural but central location, within easy reach of lake Trasimeno & many historic places, such as Florence, Rome, Sienna and many more.From LA VIGNA and the garden you can enjoy views of Montepulciano, Cortona, Lago Trasimeno, Castiglione Del Lago & surrounding area. The pool is above ground, 1.2 mt deep & is great for cooling down.

It is a great place to escape to & a convenient base for visiting the area or just relax and enjoy the tranquil rural surroundings. It is only a few minutes walk to a small (Alimentari) general store shop & Bar (open till late).

Due Viste Apartment: (4-6 persons) is situated on the first floor, with a balcony at the front which means you can enjoy alfresco dining from morning till night. The apartment has terracotta floors, with modern bathroom and well appointed kitchen. 2 bedrooms and a double sofabed can sleep up to 6 people, (both bedrooms can be double or sinlge beds).

The accommodation is on the first floor, with a balcony at the front with views of Montepulciano. The kitchen/dining/lounge area is open plan and well appointed. The bathroom has shower, bidet and basin.
Linen and shower towels are provided. Pool and beach towels are not provided.

Guests can relax and enjoy the use of the garden, table tennis, Bar-B-Que, 2 adult bicycles and the above ground swimming pool (not heated) available June-September, which is 1.2 mt deep and great for cooling down. Garden furniture, the facilities and the pool are shared with other guests.

A refundable breakage/damage deposit of €200 is required with the final payment, 6 weeks before your arrival.
Accommodation weeks usually go from Saturday to Saturday and include linen, water, electricity and gas, unless otherwise stated. Final cleaning is included.

A basic welcome pack can be provided, for when you arrive, with the compliments of LA VIGNA.
This is a non smoking property. Pets are not allowed

The Umbria region

Umbria is known as the green heart of Italy and LA VIGNA is in an ideal central location for visiting many of the most famous & historical centres as we are on the Umbria & Tuscany border. It is a pleasure to travel through the beautiful surrounding countryside to visit places such as Cortona, Sienna, St Gimignano, Assisi, Florence and many more. Montepilciano & Montalcino are so close, you will not be able to resist a visit to one of its many vineries.

Train service is reliable and a cheap and relaxing way to travel. Many local events occur throughout the year, so there is something for everyone. Castiglione Del Lago is only 4 km from La Vigna and within a short time you can be looking across Lake Trasimeno and the surrounding areas with its great views. It is a great location for day trips by car or train to Rome or Florence and back to tranquillity. If you like skiing Monte Amiato is only about 1 hour, the resort there is open from December-March.

The Castiglione del Lago / Vitellino area

Vitellino is a small friendly hamlet, with a bar and shop which has all the basic essentials & its only 5 mins walk from LA VIGNA. The railway station, with frequent trains to Pisa, Florence , Rome etc, is in Castiglione Del Lago, approx 1.5km, a 5 min drive from LA VIGNA.

Castiglione Del Lago is approx 4km, with a variety of shops and supermarkets. Discover some of the great restaurants, or sit and relax at one of the coffee bars where you can watch the world go by.

A public swimming pool, tennis courts, water sports, cinema and theatre are in Town, visit the Palazzo della Corgna (Museum & Tower), with its wealth of history and amazing frescoes. Lago Trasimeno and its beaches are 4.5 km. Take ferry trips to the Lago Trasimeno islands of Isola Maggiore and Polvese, to discover one of the best fish restaurants, a nature park, or traditional lace making. Activities nearby include water sports, golf, tennis, horse riding, cycling, fishing, trekking. Golf Club Lamborghini is near Panicarola, open all year round..

Ryanair fly Perugia- La Vigna is approx. 55 km, about 45 minutes from the Airport.
Rome Fiumicino- Easyjet, BA, (approx. 2 hours)
Pisa - Easyjet, BA, (approx. 2 hours)
Florence - (approx. 1 hour & 30 mins)

The A1 Autostrada del Sole (Sunshine motorway) connects Rome and Florence, exit at Chiusi if coming from Rome, and at Val di Chiana if coming from Florence or Pisa.
From Val di Chiana take the SS73 in the direction of Perugia, exit at the sign for Castiglione del Lago. From Chiusi follow signs to Trasimeno on the SS71.
There is a railway line from Perugia to Terontola-Cortona, it passes to the north of lake Trasimeno with stations at Passignano sul Trasimeno, change at Terontola to get to Castiglione del Lago, this is the main line between Rome and Florence, stopping at Castiglione del Lago.

“Excellent rural location, very comfortable and ideal place to relax” We have stayed at La Vigna a number of times and have found it an excellent location both to explore the local region and to relax in the grounds of the property. With the particularly hot weather this year the pool was a great asset. The property has good facilities and you can obtain all the provisions you need in the nearby town of Castiglione del Lago. It also has a good selection of restaurants when you wish to eat out.

I stayed at La Vigna, Castiglione del Lago, a delightful property, well maintained and set in glorious, peaceful contryside. Drive a few miles in any direction and you find charming little towns or peaceful villages and lovely views. There are lots of special delights. I shall return.

We stayed at the lovely 'La Vigna' in Umbria and had a fantastic family holiday staying in La Vigna, set in relaxing & beautiful coutryside. We enjoyed many meals sat in the gardens, soaking up the sunshine, the swimming pool was a treat after hot days in the sun. We explored a great many of the historic towns all within easy reach by car. Cortona, Peruiga, Montepulciano and trips on lake Trasimeno.
Castiglione del Lago is a charming town and we followed the owners recommendations and ate at couple of excellent restaurants there. We highly recommend 'La Vigna' and will return again & again.

We had 2 great weeks staying at La Vigna early in October, with day visits to Florence & Rome by train going from the station at Castiglione del Lago (only 5 mins by car). We had day trips to places like Cortona, Perugia, Gubbio, Montepulciano and many more. Great views of the Lake Trasimeno from the top of the tower at Castiglione del Lago. We are returning.

We have just returned from our very enjoyable stay at La Vigna. Everything we needed was available in the apartment & were were comfortable, the location was just as we remembered it & together with the excellent weather, made for a very enjoyable break. Breakfast on the balcony was very pleasant. We plan to return.

It was our second stay at La Vigna, we had a great time, especially with our 2 young children we loved the pool and the garden, its very safe and ideal for children and grown ups too. We will return.

It was it was a most enjoyable return and stay at La Vigna. The weather was hot and sunny and we were very comfortable in our apartment. It was very enjoyable lounging in the garden reading a good book and cooling off in the pool. Thank you for the milk wine etc. It was good to try the 2009 La Vigna. Soon you will be harvesting the 2010 crop, it looks very promising. Thank you again for a most enjoyable break. we'll return
