Cannes has various luxury shops, restaurants, hotels and various festivals including film.
Cannes has a Mediterranean climate and the city enjoys 12 hours of sunshine per day during summer (May to September), while in winter (December to February) the weather is mild. Both seasons see a relatively low rainfall and most rain is during October and November, when 110 mm falls.
La Croisette: The Promendade de la Croisette that stretches for approximately 2 km. There are two public beaches at either end of the Promenade, the west one near to Palais des Festivals and east near the public gardens. There are also private beaches where you can book a lounger with facilities on a private beach for a fee. The private beaches have restaurants/bars which are open to everyone. You don't have to use the beach to eat in the restaurant and vice versa, but there are some "packages" available which include both. Click here for the list of beaches.
Le Suquet: The old quarter of Cannes with cobbled streets, good views of the harbour from the church Notre-Dame de l'Espérance with clock tower and the Chateau de la Castre - the castle museum . Le Suquet also has several art galleries.
Vieux Port: The old port with yachts for 750 mooring berths and 150 stopover berths. opposite the Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall), bus stop and taxi rank. Further round the old port you will find the departure point for boat trips, including trips to the islands at Gare Maritime (Marine Railway Station).
Île Ste-Marguerite: The largest of the three Lerin islands, is a 15-minute boat ride from Cannes. In ancient times it was called Lero. Numerous boat companies make the crossing from the old port. Also inhabiting this island is a 17th-century fort, which houses the Maritime Museum . This fort was once a prison, and was the home to the unidentified character, known as the man in the iron mask.
St-Honorat: St Honorat is a small island with a fortified monastery and the Lerins Abbey. The island limits the number of visitors by allowing small ferry boats
Marche Forville: The main daily market is at Forville, two blocks north (inland) from the Hotel de Ville on Rue Félix Faure. You can find high quality, local produce at this attractive local market. Locals, tourists, and even some of Cannes' best-known chefs frequent this place. It also features a number of other shops, such as butchers and bakeries. A flower market is at the west end of the covered area. On Mondays, Forville becomes a Marché Brocante (flea market).
Place Gambetta is a block north of the Rue d'Antibes, walk east past the railway station along rue Jean Jaures to Place Gambetta. Open every day 7am to 1pm, except Mondays in winter.
La Bocca: is a short bus ride away, Ligne 1 or 20. The market is open 7am to 1pm everyday except Mondays in winter. The Saturday market closes at 12.30pm.
Antiques and bric a brac can be found at the markets on: Forville, Mondays 8am to 6pm; La Bocca, Thursdays 8am to 12.30pm.
Les Allees de la Liberte is a daily flower market and on Saturdays has an antiques market from 8am till 6pm. It can be found at the side of the Mairie.
Flea Market. A Marché Brocante is held every Saturday, "Sur Les Allées", opposite the old port, beneath the trees. This becomes a two-day market with the first Sunday of the month.
Rue d'Antibes. This long street runs the length of Cannes, from the eastern edge to Rue Félix Faure at the port. Shops of all types are along here, including clothing boutiques and many places with fine gift items. Cannes' movie theatres are along the Rue d'Antibes as well.
Boulevard de la Croisette. Along this famous boulevard and its many side streets are the art galleries, jewellery stores and the most exclusive clothing shops. If you're not on a budget, your hotel will probably be here as well.
Zone Piétonne - Walking Street. The Rue Meynadier runs parallel to the port, one block in from Rue Félix Faure. Roughly six blocks long, this street has markets and shops with things like produce, meat, groceries, clothes and gifts. There's a Pier One Imports shop with household items.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Cannes (mon mari , moi-même et mes 2 enfants de 15 et 17 ans). L'appartement est formidable, très fonctionnel, très propre et très moderne. Il ne manquait rien. L'endroit est calme, vu sur la piscine qui à cette époque est chaude. La résidence est très bien sécurisée. Cet appartement se situe près du centre ville , ce qui nous a permis de très peu utilisé la voiture. Cannes est une ville très animée où l'on ne s"ennuie pas. Très bon contact avec Claire, la propriétaire qui répond très rapidement à nos demandes.

"Well equipped apartment located in a perfect spot"
We had a great time in the Jardin de Louis with our 15m old baby and my parents. The apartment is well equipped, especially the kitchen for cooking and entertaining. The decor and furnishings are modern and comfortable and there were plenty of books, dvd's, games etc. for us to use. There is also a large terrace/balcony which gets the sun all afternoon/evening and perfect to relax after a day exploring Cannes. The location is great, close to local supermarket, restaurants (try Le Jardin Restaurant) and only a 10 min walk from the main shopping streets, beach and train station. The only small issue was that for an 11 day stay it would have been good to have a cleaning service at least once (bed linen change) and 2 sets of towels, but the apartment was well equipped with cleaning products. Also the pool is not heated which was ok for adults but too cold for our little one. Overall we had a great time and would use the apartment again and recommend it to anyone visiting Cannes. The owner was also super helpful in the lead up to our stay when I had questions about the apartment, facilities, location etc. Great to deal with :)

"End of Summer Break"
An excellent well appointed apartment - within walking distance to the front in Cannes and close to the rail station - the only way to travel in the Côte d'Azur .

"Superb location. Fantastic apartment."
My family and I booked Jardin de Louis for a week. The location is great, walking distant from Cannes beach,shops, restaurants and bars. Nice airport is approx 20 mins away. St Tropez is approx 1hr 30 mins and Monaco is approx 50 mins away. There is a secure garage for car parking which was very useful. The apartment was fully equipped with everything to make life easy. It was just like home from home. Will definitely be staying again .

"Everything we could have wished for"
We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay in Cannes. Our overall experience from initial enquiry though to arriving home from what was the most enjoyable holiday for many years was excellent. Key things I would sya on this are: (1) The response of the landlord ((Claire) to our initial enquiry was excellent. This was friendly and professional, with the booking form being sent quickly with easy to follow instructions for payment of deposit and final balance. (2) A very clear and helpful info pack was sent to us in advance of arrival, which we found very useful in planning our stay and travel arrangements. (3) When we arrived the apartment was exactlly as promised, and spotlessly clean. The photographs do not flatter it, and the simple,stylish high qualiity decor created an environment in which it was very easy to feel comfortable. Everything worked as it should, with none of the "how does this thing work?" frustrations that can be experienced when abroad. (4) The arrangements with the local agent to pick up and hand back the keys worked effortlessly. (5) Being able to walk home at night and not having to clock watch for the public transport (or deal with thhe vagaries of French taxis!) was a huge advantage. In summary : the way it should be done.
