Enjoy the Sagra of Saint Efisio, the most important single event of traditional culture in the island of Sardinia, which takes place every year on May 1-4 to celebrate the legendary intervention of the Saint to rescue the citizens of Cagliari from the plague in 1652. The central event of the festival is the huge parade that starts the journey in Cagliari. Five thousand people and dozens of carts and floats participate, accompanied by the joyful sound of the "launeddas," typical wind instruments.

If you are more on a travelling mood, you can easily find beaches for your sunny days, like ‘ Villassimius, Costa Rei, Pula, Chia, etc., mountains for your hiking like Mt. Arcosu, or, for more cultural visits, Nora archeological site, the Barumini ‘Nuraghi’ and several other historical and prehistorical sites.

The Sardinia region

Sardinia is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and very mild winters, which makes it a very pleasant turistic destination all the year round. The island has a lot to offer to all sort of tourists and is certainly much more than a destination for the sea lovers. You can enjoy its peculiar history and visit one or more of the 9.000 nuraghe from the nuragic civilization (the Barumini's Nuraghe is a UNESCO world heritage site) or the Tombe dei Giganti (the Tombs of the Giants) or the Phoenician archeological sites and the subsequent Roman cities.

You can enjoy wild nature of the Gennargentu Mts or try to spot a Sardinian deer in Mt. Arcosu or the wild horses at the Giara di Gesturi. Or you can spot the birds in one of the several lagoons of the island (including the pink flamingos).

The rich culinary tradition and wine production makes Sardinia an attractive destination for food lovers.
Finally you can enjoy one of the many folkloristic happenings scattered allover the year to be projected in a journey across time

Cagliari / Cagliari Centre area

Cagliari is the Capital of Sardinia and offers a flavour of the main activities in Sardinia. The favourable weather makes it a touristic destination all the year round.

The old part of the city (called Castello, the castle) lies on top of a hill, with a wonderful view of the Gulf of Cagliari (also known as Angels Gulf). Most of its city walls are intact, and feature the two 13th century white lime-stone towers, St. Pancras Tower and the Elephant Tower. The local white lime-stone was also used to build the walls of the city and many buildings. Churches, museums, botanic garden, beaches, towers are among the major attractions of the city. Cagliari is also a very good starting point to visit the stunning archeological area of Nora, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Barumini, the unique Mining Park (Parco Geo-Minerario) that allows you to enjoy a visit of the old mines and the surrounding nature and beaches, all in a radius of 50 km.
Life night is very active in Cagliari:clubs, pubs, discoes, are abundant. The quality of food is very high either in the trattorie or in more luxurious restaurants.
