“Ideal Island Rental Condo” My sweetheart and I recently spent over a week based out of this beautiful condo just south of Kapaa on the east side of Kauai. The Kaha Lani condo complex is situated on the ocean as well as a nice walking/running path. This unit was one of the rare exceptions in our life where the photos did no justice to how nice this 1 bedroom apartment really is. It must have been remodeled quite recently with stone counters and new appliances. The kitchen equipment (pots, pans, knives etc.) was better than average and actually high end in some cases. We spent more time at the condo than we had anticipated, cooking meals, hanging out on the patio looking at and listening to the Pacific, swimming in the pool(the ocean is a little rough on the east shore for swimming but there is a protected little area about ten minutes walk from here) because it was really so nice. I would recommend this specific unit to anyone looking to have a relaxing time on Kauai.

“Nice condo for decent price” Our family of four stayed here for 9 nights over the holidays, with friends staying in another condo (#119). Thought it was a great place for the price. Well equipped kitchen, clean and quiet. Third floor, so about 25 stairs to enter. Partially obstructed, but beautiful view of sunrises over ocean. We had the great sandy beach pretty much to ourselves. Lydgate park for good snorkelling only 5 minute walk up beach. Public golf course minutes down the road. 5 minute drive to grocery store, Snorkel Bob's, etc. Plastic lounge chair on deck was cracked but usable, screen on door slightly pulled away from frame but still kept bugs out. Stayed cool with outdoor temps 75-85 degrees. Our friends' condo had extra beach chairs and coolers so we shared but would recommend buying or renting them for daytrips or hanging on the beach. Wish we could have stayed longer!

“Another great stay at Kapaa Shore #118” This was our second time staying in #118 at Kapaa Shore resort. We absolutely loved it. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was that there are no BBQ utensils in the kitchen. We did buy some last year and left them there. But other than that we love #118.

“Great views and location” Pono Kai is a lovely resort in a very convenient location. This particular unit had a gorgeous oceanfront view and stepped out onto a lawn fronting the ocean. Easy walking to Kapaa town, shops and restaurants, centrally located on island, and an amazing walking/biking path along the ocean right at the unit (bike rentals nearby). Good beaches are walking distance or a short drive depending on what you are looking for. C101, the unit we stayed in, was decorated nicely and had everything we needed. One caveat- it's described as sleeping 6, but the sofa bed, while it's a fine couch, is a miserable place to sleep. Even after removing the mattress from the frame and putting it on the floor, the hard lumpy springs made sleeping very difficult. I'd call this a "sleeps 4" situation until they replace the bed with something comfortable like a murphy bed. Visitors should also know there is no air conditioning, which is normally fine if you have the door open. Pono Kai staff are nice folks, but since this is not a Pono Kai rental, you will get no help from them and no maid service, pool towels etc. The pool is nice, the landscaping beautiful, and it's very family friendly. If you are below the 3rd floor, you may find the guests above you sound like stampeding elephants, and bring earplugs for the wild chickens that start crowing at 1 am.

“great space and location” We enjoyed our stay very much the condo had everything we needed and had lots of room and the location was great. The tiles in both baths looked like they needed a good cleaning, everything else was perfect. Thanks Steve Sherwin Vancouver Canada

“Great place, great pad” This is not our first trip to Islander on the Beach but it was certainly one of the best. The unit is nicely equipped and a great location. The aC works good. Our arrival and stay were both completely hassle free.

“Great place to stay!” We stayed for 10 days in this beautiful condo. It had nearly every amenity you would want while on vacation. A coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes, utensils, towels, etc. The view was gorgeous and we walked down to see the sunrise almost every day, since it's only a minute (literally) walk away. We plan on staying here again since it was so great. The location is great, too, since it's in the middle of the island you're about an hour drive away from either side of the island. Plus, there is some great boutiques and dining close by. Also, the property management company that takes care of the condos was great. We had an issue with the wi-fi when you first arrived, but once we contacted them they were very prompt and came and replaced the router asap.

“Amazing view!” This was our third trip to Kaha Lani but first time to #326. The view was spectacular--nothing in front of you but beautiful ocean view with refreshing breeze. The condo itself is nice and clean and well stocked with basic amenities. We appreciated being able to use the boogie boards and other beach gear. We really liked the high ceilings and being on the 3rd floor as you don't get noise from upstairs neighbors. Our only "complaint" was the noise coming from the bedroom window. There are two condo units behind the building and the patrons were quite noisy and woke up before the roosters. Unfortunately the noise went directly into our bedroom window which woke us up. After a few sleepless nights, we called the Garden Property Management and Sue had the maintenance man fix our windows so we could shut them at night. This helped a bit with the noise. I wish we had called her earlier. She was very prompt and responsive to our needs. The Kaha Lani is the perfect location to be on Kauai. You're in the middle of the island and Lydgate beach is a lovely stroll away. The beach in front of the condo is also great for evening walks (though you cannot swim there as the waves are very rough).

“A very nice place!” We really enjoyed our stay at Kapa'a Shores #106. The place was completely furnished and there were more kitchen utensiles than we would ever use on vacation. Everything we needed while we were there was there. The unit was clean and well kempt. The linens were fresh and there were plenty of towels, including beach towels. The resort is also nicely maintained and manicured. The only thing we missed was air conditioning, which does not exist in the complex. We're from arizona and used to a "dry heat" and the humidity was unbearable at times as there was no place to escape to. Although we were afraid we would not be able to sleep, the bedroom was cool and comfortable at night and it really wasn't a problem. If you go, be sure to check the laundry rooms for shared beach equipment. We borrowed a beach chair and umbrealla and donated a beach chair when we left. It is a great value and we would not hesitate to stay there again... and again... and again!

“Great location and wonderful view” Unit #207 was perfect. The condo was clean and recently renovated. Has modern fully equipped kitchen. The unit is convenient to the laundry facility and swimming pool. Caution, if you leave the screen door open, the doves may come in and make themselves home. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to come back.

“Just what we needed!” We loved our stay here. We had our one year old with us, and it was a great place for a family. Loved the kitchen and the balcony. We also used the pools and shuffle board (had to find out how to play first... It's fun!). The decorations were modern and had a slight Hawaiian feel, but weren't overwhelming. Lots of natural light. The only items that weren't perfect were minor cosmetic things. The inside of the shower had some peeling of the finish and a couple of the cupboards wouldn't stay shut. Nothing that would steer me away from staying here again though! Loved that the shopping mall was walking distance, as we'll as the beach. Beautiful beach to watch the sunrise.

“This is a very pretty and comfortable property.” This is a very pretty property with a wonderful pool. Our condo was very roomy and comfortable and had a wonderful view of the ocean and lush vegetation that descends the cliffs to the sea. It does not face the right direction for the sunset, but sunset views are a 30 second walk away. The third floor location without an elevator meant a little extra excercise. This did not bother us, but this would not be a good location for someone with mobility issues.

“Loved Kapaa Shore #308!” Family of 4 stayed here 8/30 - 9/13/12. Loved the view from the condo. Beautiful sunrise every day. There are 3 buildings at Kapaa Shore and #308 is in the building facing the ocean so you don't see the other buildings or the pool. We liked and prefer the smallness of this property. It is well kept up. We did use the pool and the jacuzzi a few times. We had no problem with the wi-fi in the condo. We had some minor issues with some things in the condo, like the knives not being sharp enough and a tape getting stuck in the VCR, but nothing that we felt compelled to call about (we left a detailed note). Overall, the condo is quite comfortable. No issues with noise (all you can hear is the wind and the ocean). We chose to stay in Kapaa because it's in the middle of the island and about the same travel time going north or south. Be aware that the condo is on the third floor so there are 4 flights of stairs. We would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone who likes a beautiful, low-key place to stay

“Perfect Holiday Stay” Kaha Lani #224 was a perfect choice. This unit has fantastic ocean views, catches the trade winds nicely, and is vey well maintained. The grounds are very well maintained as is the pool. We went scuba diving both from the south end of the island and on the north, so we were well positioned and travel time was minimal. I had a little difficulty with internet connection and the property management office fixed me right up. Great value, I would definitely stay here again.

“Very good experience” The condo was very clean. It is not a luxurious or new condo but very good value. Had all what one needs in the kitchen. Close to shopping centers. Since hiking is mostly on the West side, and since Poipu is well known for its beach, Poipu is more central but more expensive. Nevertheless it is still a very good location to go to the East/North as well as the West. Very helpful assistants in the office. Many restaurants close by. No parking or internet issues. Beautiful view of the ocean. Superb sunrise. Will return.

“Spectacular home...” We loved the location, the home and the island of Kauai. We had two startling discoveries, however. One, the traffic in Lihui and Kapaa is a nightmare with ongoing construction making getting out a challenge, if you want remote its better to stay on south or north side of island. And second, we were relaxes, but careful having traveled safely all over the world...from Lima to Thailand. However, we left the back door open while doing laundry in the garage (we were sitting on side deck/patio having drinks), when we suffered a face to face home invasion. The intruder got away with all my cash and had my daughters purse, cell phone and wallet in his hand when we interrupted his burglary...we were not hurt, but it soured our trip, for sure. Kauai police were very unenthusiastic, even though we gave detailed description (down to flecks of color in his eyes and tag number on get away vehicle). Nothing was done (a limp report was taken and no follow up occurred). Bottom line, lock every door, every single time you exit...even to take out the trash...apparently. But we will return; Kauai is beyond paradise...thieves notwithstanding! Ps. It is not on the beach. It faces the ocean, but there is no beach access from this house, that is a bit misleading in the marketing material.

“totally awesome” We have always loved Kauai and Kaha Lani is the perfect spot to be...quiet, centrally located, right on the ocean and amazing property management. Staff is quick to fix stuff, install new stuff, etc., to make sure your stay is memorable. I talked with people staying under the Castle management and they weren't happy with some of their rules and policies.
