“Truly magical! Wonderful experience. Go see for yourselves!!!” A group of 5 of us went down to the Haceinda for some much-needed R&R.; The gorgeous pictures they have online still don't capture everything this place has to offer. We got out of the car from the airport and were greeted with fresh Jamaica, and from that moment until we headed home, we were utterly pampered, utterly taken care of, and most of all, felt like we'd been in a warm, welcoming home. The hacienda and rooms have all been very tastefully decorated and appointed. It's a comfortable kind of luxury. You feel welcome everywhere on the property, and all of the appointments have an.. accessibility to them... all-in-all, it makes it very easy to stay there. I've had hotel and resort experiences where I felt like an intruder, like I was watched, and most of all, like it was very clear that I would be leaving at the end. this felt much more like staying in a close friend's space. You're welcome to look around, you're welcome to ask for what you need, and you feel comfortable. The staff are excellent-- they strike a perfect balance of making sure you have what you want and need, without feeling like they're hovering. Colleen, the manager, was great-- very attentive and accommodating, and the kitchen staff did a wonderful job with our meal and dietary requests-- we had a vegetarian, and some other specific dietary needs, and everyone at the table was always wholly satisfied and pleased with their meals. Do yourself a favor and ask for some guacamole by the pool-- it's pretty hard to have a better setting for such things. Also, consider yourself warned... you will have dreams about the key lime pie, the banana bread, and... well, basically everything we ate was awesome. We had some great times by the pool, hanging out in the common areas, playing pool and board games in the game room, getting spa treatments, and most of all, utterly unwinding in paradise. This was our first trip to Hacienda Petac, and it most assuredly will be the first of many.

“Hacienda at ElCuyo in May” We had a lovely stay at El Cuyo. The beach is wonderful, and the unusual and pretty house (we stayed in the lower apartment of the Hacienda) is in an idyllic location with the beach as your back garden.. The inside of the house we felt needed some love - cupboards all needed a good clean inside - as did other forgotten corners. (Whilst the mountain cabin style dark woodwork is pretty, it attracts cockroaches and other beasties, so keeping corners and cupboards crumb - free and clean is even more important.) Cleaning equipment provided was inadequate - there should have been a mop and indoor and outdoor brooms and dustpan and brush at the very least (a vacuum cleaner would have been a real luxury!) - this is doubly important when there are kids around with spillages etc.. I think I would be right in saying that most houses would consider it standard to provide salt / pepper / some basic condiments in the kitchen - this house had none. There was just about enough toilet roll to get through the first night. Finally can I recommend that the owner provides a little 'bible' of the house - just to know local emergency numbers / a map /basic local information like where to get water / pharmacy etc..Luckily I speak Spanish so I could ask the caretaker or other local person - but I would have been completely lost if I did not speak the language as the caretakers spoke no English. Overall - an idyllic spot and a romantic little house with so much more character than the faceless white apartments that dominate the coast. With some love and attention to detail and a bit of generosity with the basics - this is a lovely place to stay,

“Palatial Paradise” You enter into a tropical garden paradise. The atmosphere of Sac Chich makes you feel more as though you are in a castle than a transformed, historic factory. Architecturally it is very unique.Candle light fills the indoor and outdoor spaces at night creating a very romantic scene. Our bedrooms were very large and clean. The owners have elegant taste and have decorated the whole compound with lovely furnishings. We stayed quite cool within these high, stone walls despite the heat outside. The staff is very friendly and did the things for us that brought Sac Chich beyond just renting a house for vacation. Without the intrusion of a hotel staff we felt like we were hacienda owners! There is a large grass area where we played soccer and frisbee, we toured nearby Mayan ruins,we rode the bikes through Mayan villages, we trampolined, we swam in cenotes and the pool. There was more to do than our time allowed. And who wants to leave the lure of this place? The beautiful pool area is where we had the most fun playing water volleyball and then relaxing on lounges under the shade of the pergola, listening to the many varieties of song birds. The owners were very knowledgeable of the Merida area, directing us to historic ruins, cenotes, and local festivals. Pictures cannot capture how grand Sac Chich is. Our Sac Chich stay was a wonderful and unique vacation experience that this family of 4 totally enjoyed and we look forward to our return.
