Excellence is Birkeneck

Staying at Birkeneck was a real pleasure. The accommodation was comfortable with a mixture of contemporary and traditional style furniture. The kitchen was of very high quality. The area is renowned for its spectacular scenery, historic castles and walking opportunities. The village of Schwangau is within walking distance and has a good supermarket, bakery/teashop and a very splendid Brewery / restaurant (well worth a visit). Fantastic stay in beautiful Bayern

After 2 wonderful weeks in Italy we stayed for 1 week in the apartment of Anita und Stefan. We planned to stay her for a few days, but since we and our daughters (11 and 3 years old) liked it so much, we ended up staying a week. And we would have loved to stay even longer! The apartment is beautifully decorated and furnished with everything you need. f.e. a iron and an ironing board, which you don't find in apartments in Italy. Our daughters loved to sleep in the bunk bed and to play in the orchard. We travelled to München by train, which is a great connection from Grafing. Within half an hour you are at München Hauptbahnhof. A very nice and interesting city and after a busy day in the city it was nice to 'come home' in the orchard, to the serene countryside. Stefan provided us with useful tips for Biergartens (like Maxl Rain and the Ayinger Brauerei) and we made some nice trips to places in the area like Wasserburg. Grafing is also a very nice, small village with some nice, and very affordable (compared to Holland) restaurants. Our daughters already asked us when we can go back to Lorenzenberg. … see more
Birkeneck Luxury Apartments - Best Location
Fantastic Location

Great location, a car is handy, but if you like to walk, it really isn't essential. The accommodation is both comfortable and warm, with excellent views. Restaurants, bars and shops all conveniently located. Our favourite eating place was Restaurant Helmerhof. Walking to Fussen along the river was lovely as was the wooded walk to Neuschwanstein Caste, you cannot visit Schwangau and not visit the castle, it is spectacular. Didn't want to leave, can'wait to go back. Silke and Caroline were very helpful and provided lots of good tourist information. … see more

Truly Unique Munich Hideaway
Very pleasant experience.

Overall, we are very pleased with our stay in this apartment in Munich. Pros: 1. John, the owner is great. From the very beginning to the final check out he was there for us. Able to meet with you, helped with parking, helping with apartment setting, able to answer questions and been available via phone or eamil ANY time when you needed him. Nothing but outstanding. 2. Area. Apartment located in district called Schwabing. It is not an immediate center of city and for that reason less touristy. Gives you unique opportunity to deepen in live of Münchner (people of Munich). Three grocery stores and a bakery within 3 minutes walking. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Marienplaz by walking then taking subway. Apartment is in between subway stations Munchner Freiheit and Bonner Platz and about 10 mins walk to either one. Car can be easily parked on the street right next to the building and it cost 6 euros max for 24 hrs parking. It felt very safe and secure in the area at any time of day and night. 3. Apartment is very clean. Bedrooms, bathrooms are spotless. 4. It has everything for staying in there. Kitchen, stove, microwave, big refrigerator, big dinning area. Perfect for anybody who wants to have breakfast and supper or even dinner at home. Especially relevant to families with children. 5. Dwelling is very quiet, there is no outside nose, period. Nice private outdoor area on the back where you can gather with your family in the evenings for a glass of wine or mug of beer (after all, this is Bavaria). So, why 4 stars, not 5? Cons: 1. It is still in the basement and you feel it. 2.Mattress and pillows in master bedroom are extremely firm. Took us 2 nights to adjust somehow, even then it never felt comfortable. 3. There is minor smell in the living room. Most likely more related to a basement location of the apartment than to the cleanliness of it. 4. No TV (if it is even relevant.). … see more
