“Beautiful villa, tranquil location” After a week of touring the island, The Petals villa is the perfect place to relax and let the world go by. The villa is clean and homely, in lovely gardens and the new addition of the pool was very welcoming. The villa set within paddy fields is very well located, being a 15 min walk to the local beach or a short tuk tuk ride which was never crowded and had a good safe area to swim and close to Galle to see the fort, markets and watch the fisherman bring in their catch of the day. On site throughout was Jagath to look after the property and us. Perfect balance of being there when you needed him, and unobtrusive for the remainder. Very friendly and willing - kept us well and truly hydrated with tea and water!! Coming in everyday was Upul the cook. His food is made from natural ingredients fresh every day and is very, very good. Any initial ideas of self catering or going out to eat were abandoned as soon as we ate his first meal for us. Also very happy to show us how he makes his curries etc and willing to give us tips. At the end of our stay he gave us a big doggy bag of spices etc to bring home and try for ourselves - sure they won't taste the same! Plenty of wildlife to spot in the garden and surrounding paddy fields as well as having the 3 dogs and cat as our adopted pets for the week. Great & interesting island and The Petals was the perfect place to end our holiday in Sri Lanka - only downside, over too quick!!
