“Christmas Vacation 2011” We had a fabulous time. Fransisco and Alicia were awesome...and cooked better than the restaurants did! The house was terrific, the location awesome. We saw lion fish, stingrays, tons of coral...snorkeling right outside the house. Planning things to do outside the house in Tulum and La Isla Mujeres was easy and affordable. Gudelio, our guide, was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

“as close to perfect as possible” just returned from a week-long stay at casa caribena, total of 10 close friends celebrating birthdays and retirements. home is simply splendid, as clearly shown in the photos. food was as spectacular as the home and setting, with lily and everyone else just as lovely and talented as could be. home was large enough for all of us to enjoy comfortably without bumping into each other, yet easily cozy and intimate, whenever we wanted. close to tulum beaches, cenotes, and all necessities. amazing value for the $. strongly advise renting a car and exploring the area. only very insignificant note is the intermittent internet; a bit persnickety, tho true throughout the region, and not specific to this home. p.s. - we didn't go for the internet!!

“We had a wonderful time. :-)” Icidro and Rocio are beyond accomodating - lovely couple, a pure blessing. (Snoopy is cute too!) Be sure to snorkel/kayak the Cenote up the street and swim the underground Cenotes near the Coba Ruins. And you cannot leave without requesting Icidro to make his tortilla soup - an absolute do not miss. My husband wants me to add... the brick oven pizza down the road is a little spendy and nothing to write home about. We had a great week "stepping off" and am pleased we chose Casa Cavu to do so. Would do it again!

“I wish I were there right now!!” My girlfriend and I spent 10 days before Christmas at Casa Tortuga, which is located near the end of a gorgeous, crystal clear, caribbean bay. The location is very peaceful...no resorts here, just vacation/rentals homes and a couple of boutique inns. The Casa has a double lot, so an excellent private beach. Sunrises are amazing. The home is spacious and beautiful and very well equiped for preparing meals and margaritas! The town of Tulum is about a 10 minute drive south, Playa del Carmen 35 minutes north, so a rental car is a must if you want to explore the area...and there is a lot to see. Soliman Bay is quite shallow and has a coral bottom, so water shoes are advisable. There are 2 double kayaks for a 10 minute paddle out to the beautiful reef at the edge of the bay. Snorkeling is a must!! (bring your mask, snorkle & fins) The entire property is very well maintained; views, beach and bay unspoiled. I hope it never changes. Megan, Luis & Gabby were all very accomodating and wonderful to deal with. I can't wait to go back!

“Pure relaxation!” We loved our stay at Casa Dena, the staff were extremely friendly, the view was stunning and the house was exactly as is seen in the photos, if not better. We really enjoyed our time and would love to go back one day!

“A wonderful, relaxing house near tulum” We spent a week at Villa Mariposa in July. The house was perfect for our needs and just as the listing describes it. The layout gave us plenty of privacy for our family of four. Our 16 year old son and 19 year old daughter could sleep late and not be woken by the rest of us making breakfast or retire to their rooms and have privacy during the day. We stayed in the upstairs master bedroom and it was gorgeous. I loved the deck that looks over the water. I had my first cup of coffee each morning on the deck. Then I would jump in the ocean for an early morning swim and dry off on the beach with my second cup of coffee. It was the most relaxing vacation I've had in years. The kitchen and great room have lots of french doors that open onto a patio and the ocean. We played cards and read books there when we weren't swimming or resting in one of the numerous hammocks. Because it was the rainy season we had problems with biting bugs. They were mostly on the beach in the evening and at the restaurants. The house is well screened and has ceiling fans so bugs weren't such a problem inside. The house might not be as good for small children as the stone floors and stairs can be hard and slippery. The caretakers were great. Attentive but not intrusive. The daily maid service was wonderful and the house was very clean and well maintained. The owners were also very helpful. We spent most of our time relaxing at the beach so I can't comment on the many nearby activities such as the mayan ruins, the adventure parks or the nature reserve. The snorkeling is great a short walk down the beach where the cenote (fresh water river) meets the ocean. We snorkeled in front of the house too, but it wasn't as interesting. There were some sharp things in the sand (coral and rocks) so I recommend bringing old tennis shoes or water shoes for both walking and swimming. We brought snorkeling gear and were glad we did. The house has two kayaks and we enjoyed using them. I highly recommend this house

“A wonderful Mayan surprise.” Hello fellow travelers! I was very fortunate to have stayed at this beautiful condo in Zama Village for a few days. Perfect location in my opinion, situated nicely between town, the ruins, and the beachfront - made for an exceptional vacation. Access to condo-provided bikes was a plus, but the beach community is just a sight-filled walk away. I felt very safe, to the point of noticing security guards on site. The condo itself is the first of many developments in a growing community carefully carved from the jungle and cenotes, I mean the sidewalks meander around trees, etc. I made quick friends with the Zama Village residents and other travelers making their getaways to Tulum, and was lucky to have been able to tag along on so many adventures during the brief time I spent in the area! Look, I cannot possibly describe how peaceful and serene the locale is, so I suggest you see it for yourself. I highly recommend, and look forward to going back as soon as I can! Thanks again for everything, see you again very soon!
