About Seoul

The history of Seoul spans back centuries – it was founded way back in 1394, and has been the capital of South Korea ever since.

The Han River runs through the city and divides it into two sections—the north side is the Old City with historic homes, ruins and temples, and the south side is the New City which has been rapidly developed to become a hi-tech business district. Both are worth seeing during your stay.

After exploring the palace and gardens, visit neighbouring Bukchon Hanok village. See if you can identify what’s interesting about the roofs of the houses!

The first thing to do is to try your mobile phone. If yours doesn't work because of the network, rent one when you land at Incheon Airport.

Transportation is great in Seoul so no need for a car! Subways run from 5:30 a.m. until midnight and all signs are in Korean, Chinese and English – it couldn’t be simpler.

If you want to catch a taxi, try to grab an orange one – they’re usually cheaper.
