There are no restaurants or shops nearby. However meals are included in the cost of the accommodation. In the large common tent we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. All our dishes are typically Moroccan, all freshly prepared from local products.

There is phone reception in our camp but not internet or WiFi. This is an authentic experience living among the Nomad people. There are basic facilities to take Berber shower and turkish toilet

The dunes are next to the camp, you can practice sand-boarding there or see an unforgettable sunset and sunrise. The nights might be spent chatting around the fire, drinking tea, stargazing, singing and drumming under a full moon traditional Berber music.

This can be a great experience and opportunity to learn about different ways of living or simply recharge your batteries and connect with nature.

The best way to enjoy Sahara desert is to take a camel ride tour and sleep at least one night in desert. We offer also various guided tours depending on your own wishes and travel-budget.

You may enjoy a camel ride of few hours or camel trekking tour to Erg Chegaga stunning sand dunes, 4x4 tour in desert or relaxing camel ride in Sahara desert and camping under stars etc.

Staying with us requires an open mind and a sense of adventure but it will probably be the most unique and magical experience of your time in Morocco.

We can't wait to welcome you into our family!

Location description from owner

The Souss-Massa-Draa Region

The area was historically important as the site (Sidi Khalil) where trade caravans gathered (some as large as 5,000 camels) before setting off to Algeria, Mauritania, Mali and other destinations.

From the second half of 1900 many families have gradually abandoned the nomadic lifestyle due to drought and desertification. In addition, the closure of the borders has almost blocked the trans- Saharan trade and new kinds of transport have gradually replaced the work of dromedaries. For these reasons, many nomadic families were forced to leave the farm in order to grow date palms.

Local people get around on foot but small motorbikes are very popular too. Donkey carts are in widespread use for transporting goods.

M'Hamid

Tagounite is a town and rural commune located in an oasis a few dozen kilometers from the border with Algeria, 50 km south of Tamegroute, 68 km southeast of Zagora and 230 km southeast of Ouarzazate.

M'Hamid is a small village about 24 kilometers from the Algerian border at the edge of the Sahara,, 98 km after Zagora, one of the two places in Morocco where Sahara begins (another is Merzouga). M'Hamid gets fewer visitors than Merzouga and is arguably more "authentic." It is about 7-8 hours by car from Marrakech and 5 hours from Ourzazate. It is "The end of the road" (the last point of The route national N°9), after it is only sands of Sahara, shepherds and caravan trails. M'Hamid was always a center for traveling nomads and caravans. Today the town is the starting point for tourist camel and 4x4 safaris into the desert.

Erg Chegaga (or Chigaga) is one of two major dunes of the Sahara in Morocco. This dune is located about 50 km west of M'Hamid and about 98 km south of the town of Zagora. With a length of approximately 40 km to 15 km wide, some dunes around a height of 60 m, it is the largest and wildest of Morocco.

Because it is relatively difficult to access – it is only accessible by 4x4, camel or on foot – Erg Chigaga remains as untouched, which can make for a memorable desert experience. Spend the night at the foot of this dune, enjoy gorgeous sunrise, sunset, and bright stars all night long.
