well thought out accommodation in a wonderful area
We spent 2 weeks at Ca la Daina. We had our own family of 4 (including 2 adult children) and a series of guests. The location is ideal. Camarasa has wonderful mountain and lakeside walks, the Segre River with its excellent swimming (go where the locals go), lakes, cliffs, and shopping within walking distance (or more shopping a short drive into Balaguer) and a train station just 3 kilometers away at Sant Llorenc de Montgai.
The layout of the villa is simple:
(a) a terrace upstairs with its own kitchen and wonderful views, where we usually had breakfast each morning, and evening drinks before dinner;
(b) below that, 2 floors, each with 3 double bedrooms (ie 6 bedrooms in all). Each bedroom has either its own dedicated bathroom or an en suite;
(c) below those 2 floors, a kitchen/lounge dining room - with wi fi and a desk for computer use;
(d) below the main living area, a cellar which was essentially a storage area and a way through to the car.
The house is suitable for children - but for very young children the stairs might be an issue.
We were the only tourists in the village.
We were far from exhausting all there is to see after 2 weeks. Highlights included the train of the lakes up the line beyond Tremp (stunning) dining at Hotel Terradets (amazing meal) and many walks in the immediate area including to the Sant Jordi Hermitage and the Segre Gorge.
You really need a car for this house, although there is a bus at the foot of the street and the train is close by for visitors - and there are bikes for guests.
The bakery is magnificent.
Everyone was captivated by the views and the wonderful things to see in the area.
It's a region with a long history - the Segre is mentioned in Caesar's commentaries, and the Segre offensive in the Spanish Civil War occurred here.
We have a lifetime of memories from a stay that was all too short. …
