“A perfect house and setting for our family vacation!” We so enjoyed our stay at Eagle Vista. The location of the house at the end of the street gave us privacy and a beautiful unobstructed view from the deck - where we started and ended our days. The rooms and beds were perfect for the 3 families. Delf made everything so easy and was quick to answer questions during our stay. I would recommend this home to any large family or group.
“Absolutely wonderful” We spent a wonderful weekend in this vacation home for a family reunion. It was amazing. There were a couple of glitches that were handled immediately by the courteous and professional staff at Deadwood Connections. It was a perfect weekend.
“If we could afford to buy the place, we probably would! :)” This was my husband's and my first cabin rental experience. We rented the property to share with another couple who had recommended Deadwood Connections.
The home was fabulous - sparkling clean, great view, a nice neighbor across the road whose let us play with his dog in the mornings. :) It is close enough to Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon that we were able to satisfy our yearnings for both gambling and the great outdoors.
Three small negatives, which are in no way the fault of Deadwood Connections: 1) the mine on the other side of the peak runs 24/7, and were were able to hear the machinery all night long. 2) there seems to be parking room for only two vehicles; a third couple had originally planned to come with us, and I'm not sure where they would have put their car. 3) the spiral staircase in the house is kind of a pain, particularly if you're carrying any kind of a large purse or bag - so take your luggage in through the basement door.
During our stay, there was a for sale sign on the property. If we could afford to buy it, we would seriously consider it. For now though, we'll just plan to keep renting from Deadwood Connections on our trips to the Hills!
“Spacious Cabin” This cabin is definately not short on sleeping room! There are tons of beds in the cabin. Everything was great! We loved it. We were told when renting the cabin that a "goose neck" trailer would have no problem parking at the cabin. The downfall of the cabin is the parking and the driveway. We were pulling two trailers and we had major issues with the driveway. The driveway was so steep that our trucks could not stop when getting down it, and once they did get down the driveway they would bottom out. Also finding it in the dark was a bit hard. Other than the parking we all loved this cabin! If your not pulling trailers I would 100% reccomend this cabin!
“Wonderful cabin for the entire family!” We have stayed at many Deadwood Connections cabins and this one was rated in our top 2. It has a great layout for larger groups and has all the necessary amenities and more. The location is perfect for snowmobilers! We would highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation!
“The cabin was great, but the stay was too short!” We have had aquaintances that had bad experiences with cabin rentals in the Black Hills. So we were a little hesitant about our first attempt at this type of stay. I can report that over-all, our stay was very pleasant. I believe the only thing that the gals mentioned was that there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in each bath and there were not trash bags that they could find. Other than that very minor observation, we were very pleased with the condition of the cabin. The kids were jubilant when we first arrived - if they'd had any say, we would have bought the thing on the spot! We never figured out how to get there by snowmobile - but the snow wasn't great and we only tried once. If we'd had more time we'd have gotten that figured out. We did have a little trouble with the directions to the turn off. We arrived in the dark and being somewhat unfamiliar with the area were really watching the odometer. It ended up being about .1 mile closer to the Terry Peak turnoff on all of our odometers and we were expecting a much bigger sign. We really liked the rustic character of the cabin and the location in the trees. I'd say if we found anything to dislike it would have been that it was a little crowded getting all of our gear into the cabin with the small entrance. Of course, there were 6 adults and all the kids trying to get everything in all at once. The other thing that we had trouble with was the fireplace. Everyone sat around it in the evenings and really enjoyed it. The problem came in the night when the fire was dying down. the kids were in the loft and smoke began to filter up - nearly choked them! But we just opened up the doors and windows and aired it out. Of course this kicked on the furnace and the couples downstairs told us in the morning how hot they were in the night! Had a good laugh over that also. Really enjoyed the stay - just wish it could have been a couple more days.
“Luxury in the Hills at a Family Price!” We had a wonderful stay at the Gold Rush Lodge. The kids loved having lots of space to spread out with their friends and us parents loved that we could get away from them as well. The location was nice for getting to many of the local attractions. There was more than enough starter supplies, towels, linens, and almost made it 8 days on the provided Toilet Paper! We ate at the cabin every night for dinner and every morning breakfast before hitting the road for our adventures. Loved the clubhouse, Air Hockey needs some TLC! There are a few recommendations that we have for the owners to do but they are so small it did not affect our stay or the great memories we made! We would stay here again for sure.
An a/C unit for loft would be an great investment...the air up there was so stuffy on those hot nights.
Ipod base thing completely broken.
Kitchen utensils are rather dilapidated but useable in most ways.
Lots of expired foods/condiments in the cupboards...tried to clean some out but just kind of needed some more.
Downstairs TV in smallest room is not working.
Master does not have a remote for the TV.
All in all it was a great place for such a good value and these little things do not change the fact that we loved our time there and would stay there again if looking for Lodging in the Black Hills. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful atmosphere for our life long family memories!
“Great summer get-a-way” This is a nice, modern cabin with everything you need. The location is perfect for easy access to many attractions in the black hills. The clubhouse was a nice added feature, however we were a little disappointed in the swimming pool. We were there mid-July, and the pool water was so cold even our kids couldn't tolerate it! Otherwise all the cabin amenities were just what we were looking for.
“Neat!!!” Excellent service from Jonna, the first place we contracted sold and the new owners didn't want to honor the contract, and Jonna was very helpful with finding other lodging. The cabin was awesome, fit our family of 7 perfectly, started snowing the evening we got there, snowed into the next day, ended up with 14 inches! Was close to the ski slope, very accessible. Had a few issues with enough bath towels for our stay, wanted to grill (in January? :))and hardly had enough gas. We had a great time though thanks a lot! The Smith Family
