“heavenly” this house is beautifully finished and appointed to the highest standard and provides an idyllic setting for a coast holiday in Kenya. the house is positioned so that it is easily accessible by road or air and is in a community which provides all the basic needs - shops, banks, sporting facilities, restaurants for those who feel the need to leave the tranquillity of heavenly. I would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone who likes a touch of class and fabulous luxury to facilitate a great getaway holiday in kenya

“Stone Town comes alive” The apendalo House is located just off the bustling heart of Lamu's Stone Town. If you are looking for easy access to the towns culture, this is the place. The house itself is a beautiful four story, Swahili style building. It is very open and airy, with great winds to cool down even the hottest of days. Additionally, Katana - your liaison for your stay - can set you up with everything, from dhow rides to specially made morning fruit juices. We would also recommend going with a hired chef. If you have a large group, this is easier, cheaper and nicer than eating out. However, take note not to confuse this part of Lamu with Shela, which is where many tourists go for beach lounging and complete tranquility. Lamu's Stone Town is a living place, which means donkeys braying and regular call to prayers from the many nearby mosques. For us, this added to the charm. And while the apendalo House is only about 30 meters from the beach, this is not a place where you can swim but instead enjoy watching the dhows being loaded and unloaded as they have for centuries.

“Splendid Holiday Getaway” My family and I spent a week at the cottage from 17th to 24th aug 2013 and had the time of our lives. Right from the time I started corresponding with Mark and asking all the preliminary questions everything went smoothly and seamlessly from start to finish. Upon arrival we were received very heartily by the team of staff comprising Riziki (chef), Samuel (housekeeper) and Masha (gardener) and from that point on it was smooth flowing. They totally spoilt and pampered us. The cottage is right on the sandy beaches of Tiwi and what better place to be if you have little kids, my sons were down on the beach most of the time and it was a task getting them to come up for meals. The house is well secured and the staff are extremely trustworthy, we left all our valuables strewn around the house from day one and never lost a thing. The beach is equally secure, as opposed to Diani further south or the North Coast Tiwi has much less human traffic on the beach so one is able to enjoy their time at the beach without being pestered by beach boys. Special mention must go to Riziki the chef, he is a true master. He prepared any/every meal we asked for to perfection! We had crab, prawns and red snapper all freshly fished from the sea the very day we ate them. He went the extra mile and negotiated good prices for us from the fishermen then proceeded to prepare them exquisitely, the results were evident when we returned and all had to contend with snug fitting clothes!! He also makes the most delicious Swahili dishes. To add to the convenience all supplies are readily available close by at the supermarkets in Diani, which gives one a welcome break from the beach and also a chance to grab an ice-cream. All in all an exceptional outing, at a fab little beach cottage; I doubt we'll ever stay at a hotel again after this...
