“Lovely colonial villa with beautiful grounds and excellent service” I stayed with a friend for one week at the Sri Mathie Villa. The villa, which is set in an old peaceful plantation, is beautifully restored. We were warmly looked after by the staff, the bedrooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the cook is excellent. Their homemade organic yoghurt and curd made the breakfast one of the highlights of the day. There was nothing better than returning from the day’s excursion to have a long drink on the quiet veranda before savouring the cook’s delicious curries.The villa is conveniently located for interesting day trips to Galle, Yala National Park (where we so lucky as to see leopards), Buduruwagala Park with its amazing Buddha rock carvings, and local tea plantations. I will definitely return to Sri Mathie.
