“"Heaven on Earth', or should I say, "Heaven in Egypt"!” I stayed at Villa Bahri for 4 weeks over Christmas 2012. The owners were extremely helpful, in fact, nothing was too much trouble for them. They recommended places to eat, organised taxis and a boat trip for us, and directed us to the best places to buy jewellery, papyrus pictures and other souvenirs. The villa is clean and spacious and very nicely decorated in traditional Egyptian style. It was really useful having constant internet access. The garden is beautiful, and I could have spent more time in it had there not been so many wonderful things to do. There are several different seating areas, depending on how much sun you prefer. Eating breakfast on the balcony every morning is one of my treasured memories.
The surrounding area teems with interesting places: Egyptian restaurants, archeological sites, boat trips on the Nile, museums...and the Valley of the Kings is just down the road. The local Egyptian people were friendly and welcoming and always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. The West Bank is much quieter and more rural than the city of Luxor, which was nice to visit, but I loved coming 'home' across the river in the evening to the peaceful setting of banana fields and palm trees.
I would definitely stay at Villa Bahri again and highly recommend it.
“Fantastic place to visit for a short break to get away from the winter and catch some sun!” If you want to experience some of the best diving and enjoy some sunshine during those winter months, this is the place to visit. The beach is warm and welcoming without being too busy and the diving opportunities are fantastic. The apartment is like a home away from home and is perfect for families as well as couples. The swimming pool is a sun trap and perfect for relaxing whilst the apartment balcony looks over it. The kitchen has all the mod cons so we were able to do a big supermarket shop and eat in some of the time, though we did enjoy local meals out too. From here we also organised a quad biking trip and left Sharm for a night in Dahab.
I'd recommend this place to friends who want to dive whilst staying in a relaxing resort away from the craziness of Naama bay. I'd also recommend this to friends with kids who would like the access to a beach and pool whilst living in a homely apartment.
“Most relaxing” Beautiful apartment, near to the airport and all the nice places in Sharm, Naama and Nabq.
Also a super large terrace roof to enjoy the views towards the sea and the mountains.
Several small swimming pools and one very large.
Everything is very clean and secure.
Owner is very helpful with everything and responding quickly to any answers.
“Amazing villa in top notch location” We stayed in the White House for a week, and absolutely loved it. The villa itself is massive, and very well located. Axel, the host, could not have been kinder - he gave us a tour of Dahab on the first morning, put us in touch with a great dive centre, and recommended some great activities and restaurants throughout the week. He also sorted out transport, so the whole week felt effortless. Unbelivably good value, and highly recommended!
“Aesthetically pleasing - inside and out!” Booking the apartment was straightforward, the owner was easy to contact and always replied to my emails. We received a 'House Bible' prior to our holiday and so felt prepared by the helpful tips and ideas this contained. The pre-arranged pick-up and transfer to the apartment went without a hitch. The apartment itself exceeded our expectations; we are a family of five (three grown-up children aged 17, 20 and 23) and found the apartment to be very spacious, clean, comfortable, air-conditioning was effective, we loved the traditional/local pieces in the apartment and the views across the Nile from the bedrooms/balconies are breathtaking. More panoramic views are availbale from the roof-top area - children used this for circuit walking!
The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful - always lots of them around if needed but left us to approach them and weren't 'pushy'. We felt the environment very relaxing and safe. Only about 15 people at the resort when we were there in July. Rubbish and recycling collection points were discretely available and emptied regularly. The general areas were clean and rubbish-free and staff were preening the garden and maintaining the pool daily.
When going out on trips, it was easy to ask the boys at the office to get us a taxi. Ahmed, our driver, spoke good English, pointed out things en route and would always be waiting for us to take us back to the apartment. We found this easy and inexpensive - (approx 100le [£10] return trip to Luxor (approx. 20 mins away by car) for shopping (a necessity for us as not much available on site); 200le (£20) return trip to Valley of the Kings with 3 - 4 hours there. Apparently the white minibuses with black borders can be flagged down and cost a fraction of the price to go in to Luxor but we didn't do this. The office staff were also able to book us onto a hot air balloon trip (£30 each which ncluded pick-up from apartment, a boat trip across the Nile during which we had a cuppa and biscuit/sponge, bus to balloon, approx. 1 hour in air and then return to apartment). We found the heat from the burner quite hot so it was good to have a scarf/throw to protect shoulders!
As a base, we found the apartments ideal - close to areas of interest and a quiet haven to return to where we could relax, cool down in the pool and potter around undisturbed. The younger adults in the group were tempted by the snack-type food available and the fresh fruit drinks on offer every afternoon by the poolside were delicious (NOTE: - nothing available on Fridays though). There was a barbeque arranged by staff when we were there and this was great value for money - 60le (£6) per head with plenty of food, soft drinks, tea/coffee etc.
There are plans to provide further amenities at the resort eg. shop, eating places, gym as well as develop the next stages of accommodation which will extend the available walking area next to the Nile. Our local walks usually consisted of a visit to the Nubian Craft Village which is government run/funded - everyone happy to see us as we were the first visitors for several weeks we were told! Lovely selection of goods available here - pottery, leather, fabrics, jewellery and all priced.
Our family would probably have made use of a table tennis/pool table if either had been available; when they were young a small play area was always appreciated, but no such distractions at the resort yet. Although internet access was available, this was limited and you had to have your own device - no internet cafe facilities.
Would strongly recommend the apartment and the amazing local sights nearby (entrance to most attractions worked out at about £8 - £10 per person - student cards can be used to get a 50% discount so worth taking if there are a few!).
“Perfect stay” It was just perfect , the property is well furnitured ,clean ,has all the facilities for making your stay a comfortable one. The owners are so helpful , kind ,and making sure that everything is doing fine . I appreciate the telephone call of the owner from the USA to welcome us at his apartment. We will visit this property so soon .
“Lovely place to stay” Having just spent my second stay at this apartment I can fully recommend it. The apartment is in a lovely complex and within easy reach of all ammenities in Nabq bay, yet quiet enough to just relax,
The apartment is so lovely its like home from home and a very helpful owner who ensure every is ready for my stay, she is very very helpful in answering any question you may have before the trip.
Really recommend this place and will be definately be going back to saty here
“Comfortable and well equipped apartment” We stayed at G-One appartment for 10 days in January with our 1 year old daughter and had a lovely relaxing holiday. The design of the appartment and equipment available meant we could spend our evenings having dinner on the terrace or watching a DVD, whilst our daughter slept in her own room.
There are decent beaches and restaurants (at hotels) within walking distance, or you can get a taxi to nice beaches and Naama Bay (large choice of bars and restaurants) for around £5. The guys running the resort were lovely, and nothing was too much trouble.
Slight annoyances - the swimming pools are not heated so were too cold in January for my daughter to use. Building work next to the complex was noisy at times.
Overall, we would certainly return to G-One.
“If Carlesberg did villas....!” Having stayed at hotels in Sharm, we decided we would like the privacy of a villa this time. What a great decision we made!
Although there were only two of us, the villa easily caters for larger groups - without tripping over each other! It is very spacious and has all mod cons in the middle of the desert....air con in every room, a fully stocked kitchen with every utensil you can think of and a large swimming pool - cleaned daily!
Excellent security, especially for femaie travellers or those with young children.
There is a great entertainment system with thousands of preloaded movies plus music piped throughout the villa and even out by the pool.
The owners of this villa, Donna and Ray, have obviously put a lot of thought into making this their (and your) home from home.
Located very centrally to all amenities, the house is literally just across the road from the beach. The airport is just a 10 minute drive away but as the flight path DOES NOT go overhead. No waving to the pilot from here!!
Don't even think about going anywhere else on your next trip - book Villa Sharm!
