Around the world, Benicásim is famous for its festivals - Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB), Spain’s top music festival, and the Rototom Sunsplash. But well-informed Spanish travellers know there’s much more to this coastal destination than music and revelry alone. Located on the Costa del Azahar, Benicásim has a unique landscape with mountains, sea and rugged beaches.
Everyone that visits Benicásim comments on how wonderfully kept it is - the tourism board here do a brilliant job of ensuring the area is in pristine condition. With six Blue Flag beaches, their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. There’s fun for all the family with the soft sands, warm sea and gentle waves. Some recommended beaches include Playa Voramar and Playa Almadraba, but in our opinion they’re all worth a visit!
Interestingly, the beaches themselves are accompanied by some amazing early 20th century architecture, created by some of the era’s most important architects. Benicásim’s beautiful villas, available to book on Holiday Lettings, are reminiscent of The Great Gatsby, with their grandeur and desirable location by the beach.
Things to do
If you feel like taking some time away from the beach, why not spend the afternoon at Castillo de Montornés? As a site of cultural interest, this Arab fortress was once home to Roman remains. Its history is fascinating and the views from the top over the Mediterranean sea are unrivalled.
You can also discover Torre de San Vicente, with roots tracing back to the 16th century. The tower was originally built as a defence against pirate attacks, and you can enjoy learning all about its story in beautiful gardens set beside the beach.
Enjoy a healthy and delicious Mediterranean diet while staying in Benicásim. Here, the seafood is fresh and the Carmelita liquor flows freely. Wherever you choose to dine, it’s bound to be a delightful experience - from the fresh orange desserts to the plentiful paella.
