“Enchanting” From the moment you enter Balam'Ek you know you are in a special place. The landscaping provides an enchanting setting and surrounds the home with a lush blanket. We have stayed there 3 times in the last 2 years and hope to make another trip late this year. The owners are thoughtful in providing recommendations for anything you might need. This home can easily accommodate 3 couples or a large family. Go for the view, stay for the comfort and convenience of charming akumal!

“Beautiful hotel, although building site is questionable” Beautiful place. Great views. I find it a bit insane that hotels are allowed to build on actual turtle nesting grounds. Please leave the nesting turtles alone, I.e. don't crowd them with your cameras and bodies. Let them be. And : turn off lights at night to avoid confusing them. Watch from as far away as possible,

“Perfect” My husband and I recently spent our two year anniversary at the Vista del Mar. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed renting bikes to get into town and walking to the Corner Store to buy our sol and snacks. I would recommend the Vista del Mar to anyone looking to live like kings for an extremely reasonable price. We stayed here last July as well and were lucky enough to see a nest of sea turtles hatch at sunset right in front of the condo. The unit was clean and air conditioned and had everything we needed. We always felt safe and that we were being looked out for. We look forward to visiting the Vista del Mar many more times. We've found our happy place!

“Absolutely fantastic.” The room was wonderful with amazing views of the beach and ocean off the balcony. The balcony was huge, with a table and chairs, and two lounge chairs, and the window in the bathroom next to the shower completely slid into the wall to have a completely open experience. There was also a hammock in the closet with hooks on the balcony that we hung up. It was very private and we felt like we were the only people on the whole beach when we sat on our balcony. The room was clean and a comfortable size for the two of us and the length of time we were there. The views and balcony were really the highlights of the room in my opinion, and all the units at Vista del Mar face the ocean and are directly on the beach (we were traveling with other people and someone from our group stayed in every one of the room types at Vista del Mar). The kitchen was minimal- a small fridge (dorm room sized), sink, toaster, a few dishes and drinking water. The other condos in the complex (2 and 3 bedroom) had full sized fridges with stoves and ovens. La Buena Vida was just a short walk down the beach with good food and a lively atmosphere at night. The town was a 15-20 minute walk down the road, with more restaurants and shops. A 20 minute walk in the other direction led you to Yal-Ku lagoon, which was crowded but had great snorkeling. The beach immediately in from of Vista del Mar was very nice, but rocky as soon as you entered the water, so I would recommend some sort of water shoes for convenience, but the snorkeling was good and there weren't many people in the water. The main Akumal bay in town was more crowded, but I heard from other people we traveled with that it was less rocky in the water and therefore easier on bare feet if you are bothered by rocks. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay and we would highly recommend it, and we would definitely return if we had the chance.

“Incredible home, excellent location, lots of privacy” From the moment we arrived, the house felt like home. It was perfect for us having two teenagers who want their own privacy. The home is situated on the very southern point of Half Moon Bay, and has incredible views and privacy. The home was very clean, and welcomed us with fresh fruit. Sylvia is the house keeper and is so friendly and very helpful. Luis is the care taker and is also very friendly and helpful. Lots of iguanas around the yard, and barking gecko's are all over the place, and are super cool. At night the hermit crabs come out around the pool and sometimes in, but are harmless and fun to watch. Sylvia is an incredible cook if you want her to make you dinner, and if you have never had avocado soup, you have to try it. Even our very picky kids loved it along with the entire meal. It is a very short walk to La Buena Vida restaurant and bar, which has great food and is a lot of fun. There are neat little tide pools and little sand pockets just outside the back door of the house, but the house sits mostly on a rock out cropping. If you want the bigger white sand beaches, its a very short walk to the beach at half moon bay, and a relatively short walk to akumal Bay, about a half mile or 10 minutes. The area is incredibly safe and secure. We walked all over the place, sometimes late at night, and felt very comfortable and safe. Everyone we met was very friendly, and very helpful for directions. The home was really incredible, and would be ideal for two or three couples. The casita over the garage is also very private and very nice. I really can't wait to go back!!!

“Heavenly beach spot” I very well know akumal/Tulum area and i decided to stay at U-nah-kin because i love its quiet and private beach and lovely accomodations. U-nah-kin is a comfortable and well equipped condo, with lovely staff and owner who are always ready to pamper their guests and make them feel at home. The condo´s shaded terrace is simply spectacular, with views of different tones of turquoise water and kilometers of white sandy beach. It´s lovely to have every meal outdoors while being protected by the shade of its palapa´s roof. And the beach is just perfect, and very safe because it´s protected by kilometers of a must see coral reef wall with lots of local colorful fishes and marine species.

“Sun, Sand and Relaxation” Our stay at Villa arrecife was absolutely amazing!! The Villa is so beautiful and inviting, it felt like home. It was lovely sitting on the rooftop terrace at night enjoying the breeze off the ocean. We spent hours swimming or just floating around the pool, it was very relaxing. My family and I had a wonderful time exploring the Ruins in Tulum, wandering the lively streets of Playa del Carmen and swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Discovery. The Grand Siren resort was wonderful and we enjoyed all it has to offer. We look forward to our next holiday at Villa arrecife!!
