It's still hard to believe but how wonderfully refreshing it is!! Just a short ride up the hill to Bliss and the beautiful scene below will definitely make you smile with luggage still in hand! What great accommodations you will experience here...lovely views, quiet and private, beautifully re-modeled and fully equipped kitchen, bath and living area with a/C if so desired. A shared pool just steps below that is usually yours alone with the same spectacular view. A real "home away from home" and so comfortable when returning from a day at the beach, sailing, hiking or exploring any of the unique places on the island. You won't be disappointed with a stay here... Truly a unique and satisfying experience!

“Better than ever” We stayed at altagracia for the second time in late February. Last year, the old deck wood seemed pretty rough and worn and now they have replaced it all with really nice smooth wood, which we appreciated. They are also building a big outdoor kitchen. I don't think we'd ever use the outdoor kitchen so I hope the rates won't be going up. Another big improvement was that they cut a lot of the foliage that was blocking the ocean views from the pool area. It is still private, but now you can see the water from the pool deck and the pool gets a lot more sun (they are working on a shaded pergola, which is definitely needed). We found we used the pool much more because of these improvements. The master bedroom/bath is really nice with curtains to block the afternoon sun (something a lot of houses don't have for some reason). We did find the bedroom aC unit was making a strange whining sound that kept us awake so we were unable to use it at night. It did not do this last year so I think it just needs maintenance. We didn't ask for maintenance while we were there. Catered To has been a pleasure to deal with. This house also has a very convenient location.

“Outstanding villa rental in St. John with a house that provides” Great Expectations is beautifully sited, fully equipped property that provides everything a three generation family needs. From cribs, toys and videos for kids to a wading pool, adult pool and nearby wonderful beaches, everything was planned to make our stay seamless. Restaurants are close, and catering companies made dinners at home most enjoyable. With a toddler in tow, this was especially convenient. Everything about this house is comfortable, easy and well planned.

“Great spot for Groups” We stayed with a group of 10 adults and really enjoyed the arrangements. The master bathroom is outrageous in size and amenities. The other bedrooms in the main house share a bath, which would probably not be a problem for teens, but would not be the best arrangement if you had all 6 rooms filled with couples. The trip down to the house is a little tricky, but there are many other villas with much more treacherous drives. We have made many visits to SJ, always renting villas and this one was very well received. We enjoy the Coral Bay area over the Cruz Bay spots, but this location makes both accessible, although both are a bit of a drive. the N. Shore beaches are pretty close, especially the less populated beaches like Francis Bay. The kitchen could have used some more equipment, we were constantly running out of glasses and there was a somewhat odd assortmnent of plates, pitchers etc. The ceramic stove top looks nifty, but is not useful - very hard to get the heat right and then a mess after the smallest of spills. The views are terrific and the pool deck got a lot of use. It looks like a iPod player has been added; that was sorely missed when we stayed and the video equipment was not operational, but we really didn't need it and did not mention this until checkout (as it really wasn't a problem). The management was great, with checkin and checkout very smooth - since our group consisted of veteran SJ travellers, we really didn't need much. The wireless router is housed in a room off the main house and its reach was a bit short - you needed to be sitting inside to get internet when it would have been nice to be able to sit at the pool deck and enjoy the sun and the views while trying to stay a little connected to the mainland. All in all, a place to recommend and a management experience that is sure to please.

“Beautiful home, beautiful view” We really enjoyed our stay on St John, and the Villa Catalini was a very nice house, very clean, well appointed, gorgeous view. The basement room was accessed from outside of the house which the kids liked, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet that provided. We stayed at 6 homes during our 6 week vacation and this was the kids favorite. Be warned the roads on St John are very steep, and a 4x4 is required even to get up some of the paved roads on a dry day. I have no ideas for any improvements, it was great.

“Beautiful Villa in Paradise” My wife and I have stayed in this villa for three years in a row (so far). The place is beautiful, high up on a ridge overlooking Fish Bay. The view is amazing. It's private, yet within 10 minutes of Cruz Bay. Michael is a great host and will go out of his way to provide any guidance you seek while on St John. This is a perfect spot for a couple and the pictures can't do it justice!

“Vacation Paradise” White Sea Gull was amazing! The views were spectacular! Jacqueline was amazing, she attended to everything we could possibly need, the room was more beautiful than expected! Quiet, clean, lovely breezes, beautiful view any time of day! What a way to wake up! We couldn't have enjoyed this stay any more, just not enough good things to say about the rental or the owner!!! Such a romantic, relaxing place for two! Lots of personal touches from the owner, antiques throughout. We have been to St. John several times before, and this is by far the most charming, comfortable setting we have found! The furniture is beautiful, and Jacqueline has thought of every little thing! Beach chairs, cooler,& towels provided, just show up and enjoy!! Better than any picture, all that is advertised and more! We loved it! So much so, that I cried when I had to say goodbye and give the key back. Can't wait to see you again Jacqueline!

“Great villa for couples or small families” It can be cost-prohibitive for couples to stay in Villas on STJ...they're usually much more cost-friendly to multiple couples or large families. So my wife and I did a lot of villa research before this last trip to STJ, our 4th. And for the price, location, villa design, views and overall amenities (a/c in bedrooms, washer/dryer, full kitchen, etc.), Mar De amores is really tough to beat. Only knock would maybe the lack of a hot tub, but there's a nice-sized pool that we enjoyed and preferred relaxing in after all those hot, fun days running around the island. We did not bring our small children on this trip, but if we had, we feel like they would have done great in this villa. It's very safe. We were really comfortable in this villa, always felt safe and secure, and the proximity to town made everything that much easier. Highly recommend. And the owners could not have been easier to work with.
