Villa | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 10
Villa Rosamund is located on the rural West Bank of Luxor. Ideally situated just minutes from the Nile, you will be perfectly placed to visit the antiquities of Luxor and ancient Thebes, including the Valley of the Kings and nearby temples. Situated on the edge of a traditional Egyptian village, the real charm of Villa Rosamund is that it offers a fascinating glimpse into local Egyptian life. A far cry from the hustle of the touristy East Bank with the cruise boats, huge hotels and package tours, we provide a personal service that is unique, allowing you to tailor your holiday to ensure that you get the most out of your time in Luxor. This stunning five bedroom domed villa is privately owned by an English/Egyptian partnership, bringing together the best of both worlds. Khyry, our local manager, can help ensure this is the holiday of your dreams, whether you want to see and do as much as possible, be left to organise your own time or just relax and enjoy the villa.
Newly available for renting, this spacious, self-contained house with its domes, arches and tiled floors has Arabian and Islamic features throughout. On three levels, it has five well-appointed bedrooms, each air-conditioned with its own bath/shower room. In addition, some rooms have their own private balconies overlooking the green plantations, lovely for relaxing in during the heat of the day. The ground floor features a beautiful sitting room and a large kitchen and dining area, leading to a walled garden. The middle floor has its own kitchen facilities and a large domed sitting room. There is a further double bedroom with bathroom on the top floor.
The piece de resistance is the roof terrace, perfect for a refreshing sun downer after a day of sightseeing. Or enjoy a shisha pipe of apple tobacco like the locals while you stargaze. From the roof terrace, you will look out over banana, date and sugar cane plantations across the Nile to Luxor Temple and The Winter Palace on the East Bank. There are comfortable sun loungers if you are feeling lazy, plus an outdoor dining table and comfortable bamboo chairs. The roof terrace is an ideal place to enjoy a traditional Egyptian breakfast of fresh falafel, feta, tomatoes, cucumber, bread, yoghurt, honey, pancakes, omelettes, freshly-squeezed juice and coffee. This can be provided daily for a very reasonable charge. If desired, a cook an also be provided for other meals, although there are some excellent restaurants on the West Bank, as well as a mini-supermarket and some small shops.
Villa Rosamund is beautifully furnished and maintained to high western standards of cleanliness throughout. All rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and insect screens on the windows. The villa has satellite TV and free Wi-Fi internet access. Our guests can use swimming pools at nearby hotels by arrangement for a small charge.

About this location
The Nile River Valley region
Charismatic, very knowledgeable and extremely well connected, our local manager, Khyry, is able to organise any excursions or experiences you desire. These range from visits to world-famous tombs in the Valley of the Kings to exquisite lesser-known gems in the so-called Valleys of the Nobles and Workers, where he can arrange a private tour unhindered by other tourists. A trip to Luxor wouldn't be complete without exploring the many wonderful temples, but for a totally different perspective, why not see them from the Nile on a felucca? It truly is a spectacle to behold. Camel rides through local villages, walks in the mountains and overnight desert safaris can easily be arranged for the adventurous. Or just relax in the year-round sunshine or go for an evening boat trip and watch the stunning sunsets over the Nile.
Khyry speaks excellent English, owns a seven-seater car and a motor launch, â Siriusâ. He is shortly to become an accredited tour guide. He has lived on the West Bank all his life and certainly has his finger on the pulse in this majestic city. Khyry will do his absolute best to help plan your stay in Luxor and ensure that it is a very special one that you will always treasure. After all, we would very much like you to come back again and again as there is so much to experience on our doorstep!

We are glad you found your stay in Villa Rosamund such a good experience and really appreciate your comments.
We totally agree that there should be bedside tables and lamps with easily reachable switches. Our local manager is currently rectifying this.
There appears to be a misunderstanding as to your bed. We took your enquiry about the width of the double bed to mean that you wanted one of the the largest ones, which was six feet wide. Had we known you would have preferred separate beds we would have been happy for you to take the twin-bedded room on the ground floor or even separate bedrooms.
Villa Rosamund and the buildings next door in this quiet little street harmonise with each other with their domes and facades. In the last year a new building (over which we have no control) has started to be built. This now partly obscures the aspect seen as you approach Villa Rosamund from the village. When this other building is complete we shall use some new pictures, but for the moment we do believe that the one on the website provides a fair indication of the setting and style of the Villa.
Many thanks again for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

"Stunning Villa to unwind and relax in, whilst exploring the delights of the Nile Valley."
Villa Rosamund really is a beautiful and authentic Egyptian villa, situated on Luxor's much quieter West bank of the Nile.
My friends and I were collected from the airport by the Khyry the Villa manger, and from that point on we were looked after like royalty. Upon arriving at Villa Rosamund we were greeted by the friendly local staff and made to feel instantly at home. We were shown to our large rooms and given a tour of the amenities. There was so much room that even with 5 couples we had our share of the bathrooms and 2 kitchens. A fresh breakfast was served on the roof terrace each morning, consisting of all local produce.
Khyry was always on hand with great advice for local restaurants and Shopping. Not to mention his vast knowledge on the local Temples and Valley's of the Kings and Queens. It really helped to get advice on the local customs and have tips on the best times of the day to visit the different Tombs and temples.
Highlights for us included a hot air ballon ride over the Nile Valley and a Felucca Sailing trip on the Nile itself. Magical.
My friends and I are already planning our next trip.
