About this location
The Hesse region
Welcome to Bensheim - probably the most popular city at our Hesse Bergstraße
The Bergstraße - called strata montana by the Romans - reaches from Darmstadt to Heidelberg. At this place on a route of about 70km idyllic localities are stringed like beads, from which you can mostly enjoy a wonderful view from the Rhine plain through to the Palatinate. Or you take in the view of the idyllic and myth-enshrouded Odenwald.
This is where Bensheim is located, the largest and most popular city of district Bergstraße, picturesquely situated between the gentle hills of Odenwald and the wide plain of Hesse Reed.
Protected by the hillsides Bensheim and the wine-growing area “Hesse Bergstraße” are counted to the warmest regions of Germany and are famous for the Mediterranean climate. Almost 2000 sunshine hours in a year's time make the region already in March look beautiful with its colourful blossom, whereas other locations in Germany are still in the middle of winter. That's why all lovers of flowers go for the spring awakening.
Gourmets, on the other hand, prefer early summer because some of the best asparagus fields are located nearby.
A multiplicity of free-time possibilities, events, a range of sights, the lovely pedestrian area with its restored half-timber houses and - of course - the delicious wine make the visitors of Bensheim come back again.
The district Bergstraße is the centre of the Land of the Nibelungs (with its regions Ried, Neckartal and Odenwald) which reaches from metropolitan area Frankfurt at the North to sleepy Heidelberg at the South. Every year this mystical legend is celebrated at the “Nibelungenfestspielen” in Worms.
From Bensheim you can reach the cities Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Mannheim, Ludwigshafen, Heidelberg, Speyer, Schwetzingen, Aschaffenburg and Worms in a circuit of 70km.
Visit the small villages Erbach, Michelstadt, Eberbach and Mosbach of the Odenwald the famous cities Bad Dürkheim and Neustadt of the Palatinate.
Discover Rhine, Neckar and their romantic and beautiful branches by foot, bike or boat.
Also the Alsace is worth a trip.
Or you got out on a search of clues of Sebastian Vettels past at Bensheims nearby village Heppenheim, or, or, or…
You see, there's a lot to discover!
“Carpe diem”, be active, enjoy nature or just relax while visiting the “German Riviera”.
We look forward to your visit!
The holiday flat is centrally, but also quietly located. From the small backstreet you reach the city enter in a view minutes by foot.
In the immediate neighbourhood (approx. 100m) there is placed the Basinus-Bad (swimming bath with indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a large waterslide).
All shopping possibilities you need for your daily life (bakery, supermarket, mail station, rail station, swimming bath, bathing lake, pedestrian area, cafés, restaurants and taverns, but also doctors, pharmacies and a hospital) are located nearby. You don't need a car here in Bensheim!
