“Enchanting” From the moment you enter Balam'Ek you know you are in a special place. The landscaping provides an enchanting setting and surrounds the home with a lush blanket. We have stayed there 3 times in the last 2 years and hope to make another trip late this year. The owners are thoughtful in providing recommendations for anything you might need. This home can easily accommodate 3 couples or a large family. Go for the view, stay for the comfort and convenience of charming akumal!

“Great experience” We had an amazing stay. The house in beautiful, huge, luxurious and very confortable. The people do their best to offer a good service. It is very good located, near to restaurants and to the beach. Akumal is awesome to swim, dive and relax. We have a great time and we will return for sure!

“A different review” My goal with this review is to provide insight on what our concerns were going in and what reality was. I am an accountant so please forgive how I structure my thoughts. I was traveling with my wife, daughter 9 and son 11, from Houston. Main concern was Security. As far as security goes, I was really worried as my wife was going to hold my personally responsible for everything as this was my idea. She was really nervous. Quotes "no way I'm driving" and "kids, you may never see me so attached to your dad". To sum it up (as I only have 1405 characters left). Out of the 7 days she and my daughter went out by themselves around the area in the car. Really, we did not feel one once of security issues during the visit. We even felt safe enough to drive to Chiez Inez, which was 3 hours inland and 3 back!. We stopped for lunch on the way back in a city call Valdiroid, big city, and really nice place. The house is located in a neighborhood which has plenty of security. Which is really over kill, but nice anyway. Water is no problem as they put the big bottles in the kitchen to use. Plentiful. As far as eating arrangements, we have stayed at many upscale houses in the us and abroad and this has the most amazing kitchen. Huge, great cook ware, plates etc. I like to cook so it was a fun part of the trip. Really good super markets past playa de carma, (big and very nice). No need to stop at the Sam's or other things along the way. The pics you see of the house on line don't do the place justice, they don't capture how big this place is, house and private beach. I guess in summary, don't deny yourself this one, because you may be worried. It is really a great place and you won't find better value. Lastly, absolutely no safety issues at all, so put that out of your mind. As far as the other review items, I've read them all and they are very representive of what I experienced, so I won't repeat. please forgive my spelling.

“A week in paradise!” Casa del Mar was a perfect place for us to enjoy our week away from the world. There were 4 of us (two 20-something kids and 2 adults) on a family trip. We were looking for a private retreat that was comfortable and in a beautiful location. Casa del Mar exceeded any of our expectations. The service was great. Mari kept everything very clean and cooked us two wonderful meals. Don't leave without experiencing her cooking! The gardener was also very nice and did a great job keeping the yard and pool (and our rental car) looking immaculate. The house itself had everything that was listed in the description and everything worked well. Our only complaint was that the beds could have been a little more comfortable, but everything else was very nice. We honestly didn't spend much time inside the house when there was so much else to do, but it was a nice place to come home to at night. The house has 3 bedrooms (2 rooms with king beds and 1 room with a twin and a full). This was great for the 4 of us, but you could easily stay here with 3 couples or 2 couples and their children. The house never felt crowded and you never feel exposed to the surrounding houses. Akumal was a sleepy little town that had everything we needed. We enjoyed many of the restaurants in both akumal and Half Moon Bay. There was always so much to do. We divided our time between akumal Bay (wonderful snorkeling with turtles), Half Moon Bay (very shallow so great for those who are not the most confident swimmers), the Tulum Ruins, local cenotes, Yal-ku (another great snorkeling location), and the beaches of Tulum. We also loved spending time next to our private pool. Casa del Mar provided us with a great home base for our trip to paradise. Highlights would include the location (what a view), the great service, and the pool. We would love to return to Casa del Mar and hope to do so in the future.

“Another great stay in akumal at a fantastic villa” I just got back from enjoying a week vacation in akumal. This was my eight time to akumal and I have stayed at a variety of villas and condos. This was my first time having the pleasure of staying at Nicte-Ha. What a wonderful villa! The bedrooms are spacious and the master bed had the most comfortable mattress. (Something you don't always count on when staying in Mexico) The bathrooms were also spacious and very up to date and recently renovated. All conveniences are there for you...hair dryer, big soft, fluffy towels and a glass container of purified water in each bathroom. The kitchen was of good size and there was anything and everything you might need to make any meal...or frozen drink. Plenty of glasses, bowls, tupperwear, etc. The blender really rocks! (Bananas, pineapple, kiwi and Vodka...yum!) Once you are finished, the housekeeper cleans up everything. The pool area was amazing! Each day you are greeted by Iggy the Iguana. I did not find the pool area to be dangerous or slick. It reminded me of many pools areas I have been at while staying at resorts in Mexico, Jamaica or St. Croix. The pool is clean and the water cool. Every day a man came to clean it and make sure it was perfect. Security around the house was solid. Even at night a security person would make his rounds to make sure everything was safe. Top things to do in akumal: Yal-Ku for Snorkeling ( go early), La Buena Vida for happy hour...and beyond, La Lunita and Turtle Bay for akumal playa dining, Margaritaville for akumal pueblo dining, and Tulum for history.

“Absolutely fabulous facility” La Sirena exceeded our expectations. Our jaws dropped when we walked onto the property and saw the pool, then we saw the view from the condo. Wow, was all we could say. Akumal Direct did a superior job, we would definitely recommend the service to all our friends. Thanks so much!!!

“Paradise!!” The location, weather, rental unit, staff were all outstanding. The locale is excellent for snorkeling and there are sufficient numbers of restaurants for evening meals when you decide not to cook in the unit. We would recommend this unit to anyone that is looking for a quiet get-away, far away from the big commercial resorts!!

“Incredible home, excellent location, lots of privacy” From the moment we arrived, the house felt like home. It was perfect for us having two teenagers who want their own privacy. The home is situated on the very southern point of Half Moon Bay, and has incredible views and privacy. The home was very clean, and welcomed us with fresh fruit. Sylvia is the house keeper and is so friendly and very helpful. Luis is the care taker and is also very friendly and helpful. Lots of iguanas around the yard, and barking gecko's are all over the place, and are super cool. At night the hermit crabs come out around the pool and sometimes in, but are harmless and fun to watch. Sylvia is an incredible cook if you want her to make you dinner, and if you have never had avocado soup, you have to try it. Even our very picky kids loved it along with the entire meal. It is a very short walk to La Buena Vida restaurant and bar, which has great food and is a lot of fun. There are neat little tide pools and little sand pockets just outside the back door of the house, but the house sits mostly on a rock out cropping. If you want the bigger white sand beaches, its a very short walk to the beach at half moon bay, and a relatively short walk to akumal Bay, about a half mile or 10 minutes. The area is incredibly safe and secure. We walked all over the place, sometimes late at night, and felt very comfortable and safe. Everyone we met was very friendly, and very helpful for directions. The home was really incredible, and would be ideal for two or three couples. The casita over the garage is also very private and very nice. I really can't wait to go back!!!

“Heavenly beach spot” I very well know akumal/Tulum area and i decided to stay at U-nah-kin because i love its quiet and private beach and lovely accomodations. U-nah-kin is a comfortable and well equipped condo, with lovely staff and owner who are always ready to pamper their guests and make them feel at home. The condo´s shaded terrace is simply spectacular, with views of different tones of turquoise water and kilometers of white sandy beach. It´s lovely to have every meal outdoors while being protected by the shade of its palapa´s roof. And the beach is just perfect, and very safe because it´s protected by kilometers of a must see coral reef wall with lots of local colorful fishes and marine species.

“Sun, Sand and Relaxation” Our stay at Villa arrecife was absolutely amazing!! The Villa is so beautiful and inviting, it felt like home. It was lovely sitting on the rooftop terrace at night enjoying the breeze off the ocean. We spent hours swimming or just floating around the pool, it was very relaxing. My family and I had a wonderful time exploring the Ruins in Tulum, wandering the lively streets of Playa del Carmen and swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Discovery. The Grand Siren resort was wonderful and we enjoyed all it has to offer. We look forward to our next holiday at Villa arrecife!!
