“Beautiful secluded cabin in a quiet area near Stowe” We were looking for a place to get away from it all, and First Bend River Cabin was perfect for our long weekend break. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and fully equipped, with fantastic natural light in the kitchen and a lovely view from the living room and patio over the river and countryside. We really enjoyed the hot tub, which was in pristine condition, and the great collection of music and reading material. The cabin is on a backwoods road which is quite accessible but extremely quiet and peaceful. It's the sort of place to go if you are tired of the city and need to unwind. However, Stowe is only 15 mins or so away, and there is plenty to do in the area. As with everyone we've met in Vermont, the people at Stowe Country Homes are extremely friendly and helpful, and the service we received was excellent. We would go back in a heartbeat!

“We had a great time.” This house is very well maintained and very clean. The pretty, clean lake is small, but that worked for us. It's a beautiful area and the house is on the end of dirt road. Not isolated, as there are other houses around, but safe enough for the kids to play in the backyard and take walks on the road. We spent most of the time out in the canoe and rowboat. There are a few bigger lakes and a state park within a few minutes for more activities, too. Also, the house is within about 20 minutes to Weston, Londonderry, Killington. We would stay again.

“Beyond expectations” My family and I had an excellent time at Jay Peak. This unit was spotless and everything is high quality. You simply can not ask for a better location to ski in and off the mountain. We are definitely going to be renting this unit again.

“Norwich University graduation/residency week” It was great to have our own place for the kids to play during the day while I was doing residency week activities without worrying about them disturbing others. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The only negative really was the smoke detector went off every time we used the stove/oven. I think the main reason for this is the smoke detector is only 6' away from the stove and between the stove and the windows. The exhaust fan did not work over our stove either. Other than those minor inconveniences we were very happy with our stay and plan to return again some time in the future.

“great layout, classic ski condo” We enjoyed this condominium. It has a great layout for extended family and gives a classic ski feel. It is not the fanciest place, but if a nice time in front of the fire in a close and convient condo is what you want than this is great.

Vermont holidays

Vermont is an ultimate New England experience, with its fields of wild flowers, countless lakes and precious covered bridges. For what it lacks in people (it is the second least populated state in the union), it makes up in style. With a minimal amount of commercial chains of shops and restaurants, and formidable sense of outdoor adventure, Vermont holidays are one of a kind.

The Green Mountains that wind their way around the state paint a brilliant backdrop for admiring the tranquillity that rests beneath the trees there. With distinct culinary productions like maple Syrup, cheeses and microbreweries covering the state, Vermont offers world-class tastes served with a friendly, down-to-earth attitude.

Some of the areas you will want to discover include:

  • Burlington: This eclectic city is the most populated one in the state, and it etches a permanent smile onto the faces of its residents. A visit here is a fun way to kick back, catch a concert and enjoy some art. The city boasts a great shopping scene, vibrant nightlife and a mile-long promenade where you can take relaxing scenic strolls.
  • Ski Areas: The skiing in Vermont is some of the best in New England. With mountains like Stowe, Killington and Jay Peak, the chance to frolic down the snowy slopes of these natural wonders is one that should not be passed up.
  • Bennington: This city is located in south Vermont and features the majestic Green Mountain National Forest, which offers a myriad of outdoor opportunities for hikers and wildlife lovers. Other attractions here include the Bennington Museum/Grandma Moses Schoolhouse, the Bennington Battle Monument and the Park-McCullough House, an exquisite 19th-century Victorian mansion.
  • Lake Champlain: This natural beauty and its environs are a must-see part of Vermont. Named for the 17th-century French explorer Samuel de Champlain, the lake and its islands are a breathtaking sight. The farms and towns found in the rolling Champlain Valley are definightly worth a visit. The towns are known for their country stores, galleries, museums and area outlet shopping.
  • Shelburne: This town is hot spot for families. Its major attractions include the Shelburne Farms, where kids can milk cows and pick eggs, and the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, which offers onsite tours of how these stuffed treasures are created.
  • St. Johnsbury: This town showcases the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium and the Maple Grove Museum. The latter is great spot for those who love sweets since it offers guided tours of the maple candy factory highlighted by a tasting of maple Syrup treats and candies.

There are so many great adventures that await travellers to the Green Mountain State. Vermont ski resorts are a big draw for those who love to "catch the powder," and Vermont campgrounds attract nature lovers of all kinds. Couples love the picturesque backdrop of the mountains and lush greenery, so Vermont romantic getaways are a popular pick for them.

It does not matter what you head to Vermont for because once you are ready to unwind from your adventures, you can always find a holiday rental that will suit your needs. Whether it is a wood-side cabin near the mountains or a condo in downtown Burlington, Vermont has something for everyone.

HICKORY RIDGE VERMONT LOG CABIN
Tranquility in a "treehouse"

We found ultimate relaxation at Rik's amazing log cabin on 17 private acres. When we arrived, Rik greeted us with warm, freshly baked bread, a dozen fresh eggs from his own "Rik's Chix" and other breakfast fixings for our convenience. The house is a work of art - with a shower that feels like you are in a tropical rainforest. Our dog ran off leash around the yard and meadows nearby without a care in the world of encountering a car. I also very much appreciated Rik's "garbage rules" - which were so easy to follow, and a lesson on sorting our garbage that we have brought home with us to try and keep our planet sustainable!see more
