The second smallest country in South America, Uruguay is renowned for its friendly inhabitants and low crime rate, and is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination. Punta del Este, in the Maldonado region, is known as the "Pearl of the Atlantic" and is South America's most exclusive resort. Here there are golf courses, yacht clubs and stunning beaches as well as the Isla de Labos nature reserve. Uruguay's capital city, Montevideo, is an architectural marvel where you can discover Uruguay's colonial culture as well as relaxing on the sandy beaches.

Beachhouse Anker-Punta Ballena
Beautiful Home With an Ocean View…Steps From The Beach
We had a wonderful stay in Punta Ballena at Gabi's beach house, Anker-Punta. We thoroughly enjoyed the view from the upstairs family room where the master bed/bath and another bedroom (twin) and spacious bathroom are located. The deck facing the beach is large with nice furniture and the opposing deck looks onto the backyard with pool, covered bbq, covered dining area and 2 grassy areas for play. You can also go up another flight of stairs to an upper deck and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The kitchen and a queen bedroom is downstairs that accesses the backyard with another small bedroom and two more bathrooms. The kitchen located downstairs is fully equipped and looks onto the backyard. When we were making the arrangements to stay here it seemed very difficult to believe the streets had just been named, but it was true! It does exist even thought it doesn't come up on Google Earth or maps (That was the hard part for me…blind trust!). Getting there from BA we took the beautiful Buquebus Francisco high speed ferry to Montevideo, taxi to Avis rent a car and although surprised that we were renting manual vehicle (stick shift ) we ended up having a wonderful time with the whole experience! It was over an hour drive to Punta ballena so get an early start as you would not want to be looking for this home in the dark! The only thing I can really say could be improved upon is having more towels and adding washcloths to the inventory. Spraying to prevent mosquito hatch maybe too? Either way, I would highly recommend this home, it's owners and I hope to come back someday as well! …
