“A special little place in the heart of Marrakech” On arrival in Marrakech late evening we were collected promptly from the airport by Abdal and delivered directly to the medina. A short walk through a bustling street brought us to our private Riad located in a quiet side street. Pre-ordering a delicious three course meal from Fatima was exactly the right thing to do and was eaten on the roof terrace as the day cooled( just a bit!) we can particularly recommend the beef, fig and walnut tagine and the fish tagine we had later in the week. As there were four of us, Fatima was happy to prepare two different dishes on each of the nights we ate in at very competitive prices. Plenty of room in the fridge freezer to cool the wine! The two double bedrooms are fully air conditioned and the proximity of the property to the main square made it possible to make short trips out to the souks and sights with regular trips back for a shower, refreshment and a rest. We arranged all our trips out of town via the owner Pierre. We particularly enjoyed a full day out to Ait Benhaddou, passing up and over the Atlas Mountains to the gateway to the desert. Fatima came in to prepare us a fresh early breakfast and Abdal took us wherever we wanted to go, stopping for photographs, refreshments and lunch. On another day we arranged a late afternoon trip to the Majorelle gardens, delivered and collected from the doors, avoiding the heat of the day. The property is located a short walk from the main square yet it is quiet and peaceful. Serviced daily by Fatima who serves breakfast ( yummy pancakes and freshly squeezed juice) on the roof terrace or in the downstairs diner as you prefer. Comfortable beds, huge fluffy towels and lashings of hot or cold water for showers. The property is tastefully decorated in hues to match the agaves on the roof terrace with authentic finishing touches. If you are eating out, do refer to Pierre's recommendations. His favourite restaurant, literally just around the corner, added a touch of luxury as well as excellent food to our last evening. It has its own cookery school and a different five course dinner each night. A tip for your final day if like us you are flying out late and the weather is hot. Pierre arranged for us to be dropped off around 11.30 at the Beldin Country club located out of town. We signed in as day guests which gave us use of the pool, loungers and spa as well as a 3 course lunch! Hassan returned at 6.30 to deliver us and our cases directly to the airport - less than a 15 minute drive away. A perfect relaxing end to a wonderful stay.
